It commands husbands and wives to have sex, commands men to cherish their wives, but wives to fear and obey their husbands. And, surprise surprise, woman rather like to stick around with men that frighten them.
- Exclude women from teaching men. Require women to remain silent in the most important social situations.
The prescription for above replacement fertility is in the bible. I’ve been saying that compulsory education beyond puberty (high school) is the real beginning of sexual revolution, as young women demand contraception and even abortion due to being seduced by the kind of boy who peaks in high school. Memetic propagation of tranny Ishtar worship among the urbanized Bronze Age equivalent of the townsman or bourgeoisie would have taken more generations to kick in and spread to the lower classes; now we have everyone jacked in to social media, there was a dull thudding sound as we smashed against the bottom of the memetic gravity well.
What made previous Dark Age economic collapses slow was that even the highest urban classes were not dependent on a long chain of resource transformations. We did not require fertilizer, pesticides, cold chains, diesel powered vehicles on asphalt roads, complex machines for food processing, etc. in order to achieve the caloric density needed to sustain the population. That’s just food. Electricity, medicine, all of our machines, all of the chemistry, brittle and delicate and expertise-driven. Imagine just the *very likely* scenario of getting cut off from East Asian chip suppliers, including the many esoteric bottleneck components like specialized ceramics, extremely pure lithography chemicals, etc. Our entire financial and communications system would start breaking down, all of our vehicles would start needing salvage for repairs, many of our machine tools just the same.
That’s all supply chain and memetic propagation, but in the case of a very rough global war, we also have extermination of industrial and urban centers containing much of the expert classes running these complex systems. This resembles more the Mongols hitting Central and Western Asia than it does the Sea People’s raids. A sudden depopulation and destruction, not gradual pressure eroding the viability of the cities.
It looks to me like this time the onset of a Dark Age will be very fast, very possibly in the next 10 years if there is a nuclear exchange. A generation or so if there is no memetic fixes, as the tech transmission has become severely broken in the West, and is showing severe strain in East Asia, and the birthrates in East Asia are particularly catastrophic, while we entirely depend on their manufacturing for complex goods. I recall that Augustus with all his power could not figure out how to restore marriage, and I recall that even after Constantine the Roman economy continued to simplify and decline, particularly in the Western provinces.
To end on a positive note, if we do a good job preserving all of our now-digitized knowledge in an accessible and replicable and robust form, I suspect that we will bootstrap something resembling an Industrial Economy around the easily managed sources of energy, such as hydropower and maybe geothermal, and rapidly rebuild to ~1950s then ~1970s level tech in a fashion that is way less brittle and supply chain dependent.
The chip supply chain is especially fragile, and all our storage media are fragile and subject to rapid decay. An enormous amount of knowledge is Youtube videos, which can very easily get lost. Problem is that people are using paper less and less. Mag tape lasts 10 or 20 years — for it to last forever, has to be read and rewritten from time to time.
To keep our knowledge around, someone has to keeping mag tapes, and from time to time refreshing them.
Chinese paper was low acid, and they had wood cut printing, so did not lose too much knowledge. But they lost, more or less permanently, the capacity to utilise that knowledge. When they re-industrialised, they imported Western and Russian tech.
I have often remarked that all transistors everywhere are built under an engineer who trained under an engineer who … trained under an engineer who trained under Shockley. Hard to recover just from books. You need a live tradition of live people.
Ceramic optical disks, and related such as M-DISK, are far more robust a storage medium. I’m not sure how robust the reading devices will prove to be. Mag tape might win out if it’s easier to read, but ceramic disks are much harder to destroy accidentally and do not rot, as far as we know anyway.
We might get lucky if we have anther few years of “AI” boom left in us, as the next step for getting robots to work in ‘real-world’ settings is somehow compressing all the youtube and related video information into a form factor small enough to be cost effective to inference. We managed this for language data, code and math included, and the Chinese are making great progress on this for video and physical data. If we get an AI-model form of compressed video, we can use similar techniques to LLM compression and get something at least somewhat useful. I am still predicting lots of these domain-specialized ‘foundation models’, and indeed we are seeing them start to appear. Not at a satisfying rate, considering how valuable they might prove to be as compressed archives of our very ‘tribal knowledge’ heuristics based production and research workflows, but at least they are starting to exist.
We still need ways to make these big models compress in a way that is preservative of the data we actually want. Right now, we do very naive methods that produce rather terrible results. We’re going to need to figure this out, as if we lose our very delicate supply chain, all these GPUs are going to rot very fast. Need to be able to patiently extract all the knowledge, slowly is okay, using the older and more common CPUs less susceptible to decay from use. Otherwise, very big missed opportunity.
A large language model contains all the knowledge in the world in highly compressed form, though the compression leads inherently to hallucination. Trouble is that most easily broken supply change in the entire economy is chips — first to go when transport goes down due to nations shooting each other.
Mdisks allegedly last a thousand years and cost a bit under $200 per terabyte. They have one hundred gigabyte disks, and a hundred gigabyte llm knows enough that you can reconstruct technological civilisation. Trouble is a dark age society would find it difficult to query it. Or even read it. You would need enough knowledge on low acid paper to build the tech to access ancient mdisks.

You want to focus on early-2000s tech, 90-28 nanometer, for which fabrication equipment is easy to get hold of, open-source RISC-V architecture, and lightweight Linux distros that run well on such hardware. Set up your fab in an out-of-the-way location like South Africa or New Zealand and try to source raw materials locally, or accumulate large stockpiles.

We kept the gearwork, the hydropower devices were too complex and not required for what life had become.
It probably matters how we enter the Dark Age. A managed descent versus a crisis. We are most likely getting a severe crisis, and very possibly nuclear war. Napolean halted France’s leftward spiral, and then marched around a million frenchmen into meatgrinder death. It’s easy to imagine our tranny Stalin refusing to stop the various wars abroad, until we actually do cross a line that provokes the ICBMs. In that case, hard to say what happens. I doubt the war stops at one volley, we have enough equipment to re-establish comms and chain of command. We might see a total nuclear war of extermination, a century with a tempo of violent atomic death. Lots of equipment will be destroyed in such a war.
You can get, I believe, near to 128nm with contact lithography before mechanical jitter makes going farther require exotic materials and processes that are not worth pursuing compared to DUV. That should be something we can put together from all the scrapped equipment, should there be organizational energy for it. Getting to 28nm requires DUV machines, which are not easy to maintain, they only sound easy when you compare to EUV. It also requires clean rooms, extremely pure exotic chemicals, high grade silicon, the works. China AFAIK still has not fully internalized the supply chain needed for 28nm, but they are close. If China is not easily able to maintain 28nm in our world of best possible conditions, certainly not after a total war and breakdown of the global industial metabolism.
We might be able to replicate a lot of functionality with specialized accelerators taking advantage of electromagnetic waveforms instead of transistors. The evolution of our modern computing stack followed a sort of random walk, it didn’t have to go the way that it did. But this is getting into the weeds. What needs to happen is some kind of process thst produces “good enough” compute substrate to be able to maintain a database of whatever knowledge we manage to preserve. I’m optimistic, I think that is achievable. It will rapidly develop, considering what we know now about how useful computers are for labor saving, and how useful the byproducts of semiconductor industrial processes such as lasers and LEDs and photovoltaics and digital sensors. Probably will relive the 70s and 80s with big clunky computers with CRT monitors and video while the more esoteric stuff gets bootsttapped.

I do get the impression my post was not quite understood, although I find the wording quite clear.
Russia’s fat padding just ran out this year. They were good until about mid-2025, then the pressure finally started wearing the system down. Over the last couple of months we’ve got some telling stats: Moscow new home purchases down 37% compared to last year; average household now spends 40% of budget on groceries; customers of eateries and restaurants down by 40% compared to last year. The internal airlines are starting to cut down on flights, because the lack of service and spare parts has begun to really bite. The state rail just fired 15% of workers. Local car manufacturers suddenly fired up to 70% of their workers and many factories of all types are moving to reduced work shifts.
Everyone who said back in spring 2022 that Russia’s economy would fold in weeks/months was dead wrong, but four years is four years, shit is starting to really bite. The reserves have been used up. Likely no one expected this to drag on for so long.
Which is brings us to another issue: the Vietnam syndrome. For four years now Russian men are rotating through the Ukrainian front, which means by now a sizable population of lethal shell-shocked men with money to spend on drugs and booze back on the streets.
Read about a guy whose trenches got hit by artillery, and his buddy got blown in half, and the upper half, guts hanging out, in deep shock, asked for a cigarette and our guy gave him one, and the upper half of the other guy smoked for a bit and then died. Probably the distribution of disturbed vets with events like this one burned into their brains is not equal, but they cluster more in certain towns and certain neighborhoods.
Plus, in this time of explicit and implicit war, foreigners settling in Russia and getting a local passport get pressured to sign up for the army immediately.
I would say now is not the time to settle in Russia, unless one is looking for an adventure. Globohomo’s potential plan to degrade Russia by using up the Ukraine against it is starting to bear fruit, albeit not as fast as they apparently hoped. Maybe the Kremlin can turn things around, or Kiiyiiiev and London and Brussels will suddenly sue for peace, but even then, it’ll take at least half a decade for Russian society to digest things.
In Eastern Europe, better to stay away from countries which might be next in globohomo’s plans to feed into the grinder once the Ukraine is all used up. Which would be the Baltics (Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia), and Poland. Should things erupt beyond the Ukraine, Belarus will likely turn into a battlefield as well.
The countries furthest away from everything geographically are the countries of the former Yugoslavia (not counting Bosnia and Kosovo, which could erupt one way or another): Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro, Macedonia. The first two are inside the EU, the rest are still outside it.
If it was me trying to figure out where to hunker down and maybe even start a new life, I would begin by exploring Macedonia and Montenegro. Serbia sounds amazing, but is one of those places that seem to make globohomo to want to crush them periodically. Macedonia and Montenegro are more invisible.
Slovenia and Croatia will be shinier, also mostly invisible, but more expensive and members of the EU, one has to be OK with that.
Up north the Czech republic and Slovakia and Hungary are OK in theory, but in practice if something big erupts they also get affected. Plus the weather is way crappier.
Just thought of a simpler formula: the seaside. Landlocked countries are boring anyway. So, in EE, the former commie camp countries, some of them are on the coast of the Baltic Sea, some are on the coast of the Black Sea, and some are on the coast of the Adriatic.
The ones on the coast of the Adriatic are the ones that are far away from the Big War area, should one erupt. Coincidently, they also have the best weather and the best food. So… Slovenia, Croatia, Montenegro. If a guy is flexible, those are the destinations.

When the Ukraine started to run out of men, they became more thoughtful about cheerfully expending them, but they are still fighting uphill against an enemy with overwhelming air and artillery superiority, a superiority that has become more extreme due to the destruction of Ukrainian artillery and increasing technological capability of Russian drones. In addition, the Russians have more men, and the Ukraine fewer and fewer men.
Then Ukrainian tech accomplishments have undeniably been impressive, when compared to the decadent west, but you have to compare their tech accomplishments with those of Russia.
Most recent tech advance: The Ukraine would observe the path of incoming long range zones, guess where they were headed, and move a force in to intercept them. The Russians recently gave their large long range drones autonomous capability — when it sees the interception force, it abandons its original target and goes after the interception force.
The Russians have for quite a while had ambush drones. They fly in, they land, they sit by the side of the road, and when they see a vehicle on the road, take off and intercept it.
The Ukraine has neither ambush drones, nor drones capable of autonomously changing targets when under attack from the ground.

I would only add that there are signs such as the recent election shenanigans that Moldova– a rare unspoiled gem in Europe– is Globohomo’s choice to be next into the meat grinder. Compact landlocked Moldova is The Shire of the former USSR: fields, hills, rivers, solid local wine culture, sunny clime, fertile soil, fruits and veggies, cheeses, sausages, pies.

Spent a couple days and nights in DC. Trump cleaned the place up massively. During the Biden years I saw multiple vagrants passed out right in front of national places of prestige like the Smithsonian, rats nibbling on their faces. The smell of urine and shit everywhere. It did do a few things differently from Standard Netflix. As Jim pointed out, apparently replying to the wrong comment, it does not appear to have been produced, directed and acted exclusively by people who hate the show and the fans. Many of the cast and crew are obviously fans of the IP themselves (Taz Skylar, Emily Rudd), and creator Oda is “somehow” involved, though I think his involvement is overstated, but probably he and some other studio execs put pressure on Netflix to make the show commercially viable and not just a skinsuit for The Message. I recall the popular anecdote that Rudd refused to allow her costume to be uglified, which speaks well of her (I guess), but also tells us that Netflix was and still is trying to push in that direction. The iconoclasts aren’t gone, their influence is just being moderated somewhat.

She fucked me on the second date, but then would only fuck me during ovulation and would protest outside of it. She was not sure if she wants to have kids.
So, as others observed, there is only one polarity to a woman. A woman hears “trad”, “based” or whatever other current thing, and says that “trad” is whatever she wants at the moment.

No rules in this context does not mean “anything goes”, it means no fixed and immutable code of conduct through which shills and entryists could immediately set about finding and exploiting loopholes. If you exhibit shill-like behavior, and can’t prove to Jim’s satisfaction that you’re not a shill, then away you go. The only foolproof way to say a faction has working nukes is when it has detonated nukes. The last time either the US or Russia has done this is over 30 years ago, so….. Who knows. North Korea’s last detonation was under 10 years ago, so technically that makes them the most advanced nuclear power in the world.
Then again there’s still a very large contingent of nuclear power plants all over the world. Sure, big difference between lowly enriched uranium and highly enriched uranium, but I can’t imagine it would be that difficult to reverse engineer a nuclear weapon from a working nuclear reactor.
India has recently operationalized a fast breeder reactor in one of its older nuclear power sites, Kalpakkam in the south of India, becoming less dependent on external sources of Uranium now. This may also allow India to produce fissile material for a nuclear weapon in the future.
I am not aware of the technological implications of this, but it seems that India is also looking to enable the use of its vast Thorium deposits as nuclear fuel.
Seems that India has successfully utilized Russian nuclear tech for decades without any major risk, putting paid to the Western narrative about unsafe Russian nuclear technology.
