War is a test of will and capability. The test has been run. We now know the will and capability of the parties.
I have repeatedly predicted that the war will end real soon now, and repeatedly been wrong. My repeated error was to assume that individuals would respond rationally to the situation, once it was revealed. Rational individual behaviour for a Ukrainian who is not yet in the army is to go into hiding, and most Ukrainians have done so. Outside of the capital, the streets are empty, and those in the capital still wandering around are the “golden boys”, strangely immune from conscription. If you are in the Ukrainian army, rational behaviour is to desert, mutiny, or surrender, and while a large number have done so, most have not. Those who fail to make the rational decision will die soon, if no deal is made.
知己知彼,百战不殆 . If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.
The western ruling elite knows neither itself nor the enemy, and among the many things the elite does not know, our elite has its head in the sand about what the war has revealed. Given that respective will and capability is now known, the rational collective action is to cut whatever deal can be made. Which will be, like the various World War I armistices that ended each war of attrition within the greater war, a very bad deal, because if you keep on going, you lose what few bargaining chips you have. Wars of attrition tend to end like that, because by the time reality becomes undeniable, the losing side is out of chips.
After World War I, the German high command cut a rational deal, which is to say, an absolutely horrifyingly bad deal in which they conceded disarmament and vast amounts of territory that they still controlled when they signed to deal. That was not a stab in the back, though Germans tended to perceive it as that. A government was installed in Germany which did, however, stab Germans in the back. A rational Ukrainian deal is going to look like the deal that ended World War I.
A rational deal, given that the West is has few bargaining chips left, is that sanctions end, Russia gets Donbass and the Ukrainian coast as its internationally recognised borders, gets a lot more territory than it currently controls, a mutual security arrangement with Nato guaranteeing the security of both, the Ukraine is disarmed, forever excluded from becoming part of Nato, and becomes Finlandised, and that a transit corridor between Russia and Kalingrad is excluded from Nato. Trump, being a great negotiator, and Putin being a terrible negotiator, could probably get something better, maybe a whole lot better, but the chips on the table are what they are. An achievable deal is going to wind up looking something like that. If it does not look much like the deal that ended World War I, it would not be rational for Putin to agree to it. (Albeit lots of people negotiating with Trump, like lots of people negotiating with Bill Gates, have wound up with deals that in retrospect do not look very rational.)
Our elite, however, is not rational. Any remotely realistic deal would be denounced as a stab in the back. “RussiaRussiaRussia” “Trump is a Putin stooge.”
Russia does not want to conquer all of Ukraine. It very much does not want to conquer the parts where the population is non Russian. But it also does very much want to eliminate the Ukraine’s military capability, which if no deal can be made might require it to destroy everything and kill everyone insufficiently Russian in the Ukraine. Which would take a long time. If I was a Ukrainian, would be practising my Russian.
The settlement of the Chechen war offers a model. Chechnya is not an assimilated part of Russia, but is now a separate and very well treated nation within the the greater Russian Empire, Those Chechens still alive seem to feel that they got a pretty good deal, and are sincere and enthusiastic Russian patriots. This was, however accomplished by an eliminationist policy. Those Chechens that did not buy into the deal, died, and the deal was not settled until Chechnya was levelled to the ground. There was enormous destruction, enormous refugee flight, and enormous civilian casualties.
What happened was that Russia found individual Chechens who were individually quite willing to make a rational deal, a deal that was quite generous, and those individuals are Chechnya now. Similarly, when in the course of destroying Ukrainian military capability, it finds itself conquering turf where direct Russian rule is unwise, it is going to find individuals who are willing to take the deal of a Finlandised Ukraine.
In that case, a Finlandised Ukrainian government up to the Nato border, and Nato refusing it recognition, and a state of war or near war between Nato and Russia. If no deal between Nato and Russia recognising the outcome, and granting mutual security and recognised borders, then next up, the Kalingrad corridor and Baltic coast, assuming the nukes do not fly first.

“No one is above the law.”
Look it’s Thermidor. I get it. The GAE needs the Gollum and the Gollum needs vitamins. OK. But relaxing my eyes a bit and looking just at the surface of things, I can’t believe this.
The media, “courts”, universities and the rest of the “status structure” have been 24-7 Orange Man Bad for eight straight years now. And Covid and Saint Floyd. The fact that this was even net-sum-possible is some kind of Soft Regime Change. The official faith is wavering.
All I want is helicopters, disappearances, boots up asses, peace in Europe and Asia, and to go to my fucking job.
That Elon and Vance are in on this gives me a faint hope that Sulla is coming to town, but I’m still worried.
“No one is above the law.”
The Democrats were completely prepared the steal it again at 3AM through big city ballot dumping:
https://x.com/EndWokeness/status/1854015622335594953
Seems like the Media Elites were not willing to play ball (realizing that the steal would be even more absurdly obvious then the last time), and decided to just call it for Trump early before the 3AM fake ballots could be even dropped.
They must have realized that letting an even more enormous and obvious steal to happen would have completely shattered all credibility in the system and decided to, smartly, try to regain some of that credibility by allowing a fairly normal election to happen given they were less scared of a Trump victory this time around as he is more of a Thermidorian candidate.
Yes, that path was closed to them by the GE making his alliance with Thermidor, which includes control of communication platforms (X, WaPo). Very risky for them to do the steal. Meanwhile in GA Trump made an alliance with GOP leadership and we saw the SoS (Raffensberger) declared, weirdly, at midnight, that there was no path for Harris via a public press conference. IOTW he was telling the county BoEs to wrap it up. Im sure similar orders went out to other SoS/BoE personnel in swing states.
in related news, Bezos bends the knee:
https://x.com/JeffBezos/status/1854184441511571765
As Jim predicted, the machinery was in place, it IS centralized, but the orders did not come.
That’s a lot of acronyms, wise guy.
That makes sense. Interestingly, even up to the point where Trump was giving his victory speech, only Fox had called the race for Trump while every single one of the other legacy networks just kept saying all the battle ground states were too close too call and Trump was just “speaking to campaign members at Mar-a-lago”.
They were certainly prepared to allow the steal to commence but must have finally realized they did not have the GOP nor the print media (NYT/WaPo) playing ball and no longer had Twitter to coordinate the propaganda messaging as a loudspeaker.
Well!
I went to bed before anything had been settled last night, woke up this morning, saw the result, and immediately had to go to work. So just weighing in now…
1) Awesome!
2) We have confirmation that the overall electoral fraud machinery is significantly and crucially centralized. Congrats, Jim; as recently as a week ago I would have bet against that. Sometimes it’s NIIIIIIICE to be wrong! And, a closely related point, this means there is a “margin of fraud,” at least if the enemy is not cohesive.
3) A stray thought: I wonder if Harris actually wanted to win. Her ambitions in life seemed to be no higher than to be some California politico’s cock holster. She was probably just as surprised as the rest of the world to find herself the Dem candidate.
“ 2) We have confirmation that the overall electoral fraud machinery is significantly and crucially centralized.”
OK. While the iron is hot, please elaborate on this point, and try not to leave anything out. What did you witness/experience that confirmed this to you?
I sense sarcasm in this question, for some reason, but I’ll answer it anyway:
As a preliminary remark, there’s the Time article, which I just became aware of a few days ago. (See links elsewhere in this comment section.) The article is convincing because Time is part of The Blob, so it’s a confession from the horse’s mouth.
Now the substance of the answer, pertaining to what we’ve seen over the last 36 hours:
If electoral fraud is entirely decentralized they couldn’t turn it on or off at will. Or at any rate their cohesion or lack thereof wouldn’t matter. If it’s entirely decentralized, as I had thought until quite recently, it’s all just a bunch of retail-level fraudsters in Philadelphia, etc., doing the fraud without any contribution or direction from higher up. In that case the result this year presumably would have been the same as in 2020: “Trump is Hitler Squared, therefore we must ensure that (etc.)” Whether prominent players like Musk or Bezos are on board with the fraud, or not on board with it, wouldn’t matter. This year it obviously mattered.
It was clear early in the evening that the press was cool with Trump winning and also it seemed implicit in the coverage that fraud was a factor in 2020 and would not be a deciding factor this time.
This time Trump had support from powerful people that he did not have 4 years ago.
I’d argue that there’s probably a few million in distributed fraud throughout the country, mostly in big cities. But you don’t get the 2020 Costco-sized fraud without said centralization, and you can’t provide plausible deniability for it without lockstep media suppression.
Precisely.
Clarification: I’m not saying that Musk and Bezos direct electoral fraud operations; I’m using them as symbols of what the quote elite unquote want to happen.
Trump’s winning electoral map this year looks very similar to 2020’s early electoral map before the 3 am ballot dump. The telling difference is that individual states and news outlets started to call it sooner this year. Suggests that word went out in 2020, but not this year.
In all, a big win for Jim’s Thermidor hypothesis, as others have said.
Though it thankfully wasn’t enough for them, I cling to a weak form of my decentralized vote stealing assertion. Watching news stations last night I was struck by how reporting of early vote totals by district or county fed late reporters all the numbers they needed to know to come up with the votes to swing a state. Swinging a close race could be done haphazardly by only a few people of like mind with tvs on in the background, wouldn’t necessitate orders from on high.
Then, Florida. Trump +14 when it used to be a razor thin swing state. Also, timely vote counting and reporting in Florida. The two facts remarked on even by Fox news as completely unrelated – the first a big political swing, the second a non-partisan matter of good governance. Only they look connected to me – fast counts and timely reporting an iron fist inside a velvet glove for the Republicans. (Credit where it’s due, turns out DeSantis is good for something after all, though I still consider him a shabbos goy.)
Putting the above together I’m even coming up with a crazy idea that safe blue states with a red hinterland around one big population center like New York, Illinois, Oregon might be competitive under a regime of fast counts and simultaneous release of results. This seems a theoretical concern, since honest counts and simultaneous release of results may be a coup-complete problem. Still, it means they might fall in line easier than either side expects in the event push comes to shove.
There is really a strangely divine looking Providence sometimes. OK so we wanted a warrior, and got instead the guy wrote The Art Of The Deal, the one who advertises he is a merchant in the loudest possible ways. But in this particular case, a Dealmaker might be indeed more useful than a warrior. Russia can be dealt with, the truth is the whole thing is way more expensive than they expected it to be, and are looking for a honorable, face-saving way out. The Western Left cannot be dealt with.
[…] I commented here, what the article reveals […]
On Nov. 10, Trump warned Putin not to escalate the war in Ukraine. A week later, Biden authorized Ukraine to strike deep inside Russia with American-supplied missiles.
What is this, one last attempt to start WW3 and launch the nukes before Trump can stop it? Will Trump warn Zelensky that if he does deep strikes, his funding stops on Jan. 20?
While the Affairs of who is guilty of “causing” or “starting” the War in Ukraine will be debated for ages. Setting that aside…
Biden/West/NATO’s fuckup in Ukraine mirrors that of their fuckup in Afghanistan, the fuckup of the Woke Gay Democrat Left Pols in general, of Neocon Baby Bush, of the Corrupt Clintons, Fraud Obama, etc.

One thing is certain, irrespective the unknowability of Russia/Putin’s secretly held hard objectives and capitulation points, setting that speculation aside, it is clearly the USA/West/NATO that fucked up and is responsible for Ukraine’s current massive loss of battles and sovereign territory and infrastructure and men.
Why?
Because during the first critical weeks and month Biden/West slow rolled and delayed all manner of aid into Ukraine, particularly physical military supplies (not to include western troops). The West bleated acting like sheep for months that the West was afraid, combined with “bleeding Russia out” strategy, which Putin then capitalized on those turning them into unchecked and sweeping battlefield advances, including free license to destroy civilian infrastructure, smashing housing, utility, etc.
In non-military fuckup… the first treaty, which would have cost only half what Russia has today taken from Ukraine’s internationally recognized land border, was rejected by the UK/US, who continued to PsyOp Zelensky into thinking he could win, without supplying the resources necessary to win.
Further, the West never articulated a Moral or Diplomatic position of high ground against Russia’s incursion. And in result Russia promptly engaged and realigned economic military and political support from the East/Browns into favoring Russia.
Meanwhile, both the West (failed GAE) and Zelensky (the naked faggot comedy show actor) didn’t crackdown on the hundred-$Billion of internal Ukrainian corruption.
In war, the invader is always unsure of exactly what defenses they will face, so their incursion across borders always has some element and moment of unsure footing that can easily be turned back and sent home packing early… out of fear if nothing else.
The West should have started shipping when it saw Russia’s material movement, and certainly in by Putin’s last speech.
The “West” lost by not immediately throwing everything behind Ukraine’s defense effort. Ukraine thus began losing massive Infra and Manpower. Russia was given time and space to ship in massive support Infra of its own. To the point that Russia won the war.
If you don’t go brutally hard repelling against those invading you, at least in your own fields, the moment they incurge upon your own lands, you lose. And are then forced to play the long game.
Alternatively, the West could have advised UA to capitulate to Russia’s request on the day of Putin’s speech.
Ukraine and its Sovereign Lands were not particularly Russia’s to win, they were more the West’s to lose. And yet again, the West and its corrupt gay faux geopolitcal leadership fucked up.
Next up is Taiwan, and the Taiwanese people better think long and hard about the West’s fuckups. Any Declaration of Independence by Taiwan, such Declaration being the Right of all Freedom seeking people to do if they so decide, should not depend on the West.
