It’s not all depressing. I can give an assessment based on the state of the oppositional elite in the Netherlands.
There’s two parties: Geert Wilders and Thierry Baudet. Both are doing pretty well in their own way, although it must be noted that neither is explicitly Christian.
Baudet is the more based of the two. Believes some dumb stuff like that the moonlanding is fake, but also understands that much of modern day democracy is fake and gay. He has dropped off in the polls, but much to his credit, understands that votes are not everything. For instance, he attributes the success of the left to them taking over cultural institutions such as education, and is trying to counter this by setting up his own schools.
Wilders is currently running the biggest party of the Netherlands. You’d think that would mean he were minister-president, but no, of course not, he was denied because right-wing. But, also to his credit, he has very impressively swallowed his ego, manouvred the political landscape and is now effectively a shadow minister-president, which, neutered as the position is, still impressive. The official minister-president is an ex-director of dutch secret service, which sounds very depressing until you see the guy and realize it’s the Evan McMullin thing all over again.
The biggest problem is that no one knows where to go next. Honestly, I include myself in that category. Restore throne, altar, freehold, sure, but how? Are we restoring European monarchies? Have you seen the state of the monarchies? I like our king as much as the next guy, but really, any less testosterone and he’d have manboobs. Historically, the way to solve weak dynasties was conquest by another dynasty, but who is going to pull that off? Perhaps one could marry themselves into the dynasty (Dutch king has three daughters), but it seems very unlikely for all the conditions to make such a situation feasible to be met. Not to mention the whole European crabs in a bucket thing — if one nation state will break reactionary, others will inevitably try pull it back.
We have a state religion that destroys fertility and de-industrialises the economy — which eventually leads to ever escalating deficits. Which can be sustained for a long time, but will eventually result in collapse. And I am pretty sure the state religion is headed from slow genocide to hot genocide.
So you are going to get Thermidor, or complete collapse. Either way, you can go from there. Thermidor can hold power for a long time, in which case the state religion dies, or can collapse left or right. Recall Karl Marx (heh) saying, “The point, however, is to change it.” Well, changing or rather redirecting the course of history will require the replacement of the wicked elites of Europe with virtuous elites, and the replacement of Progressivism (including, that is, Progressive “Christianity”) with real Christianity. Can this be achieved entirely peacefully? Possibly, but unlikely. Then again, it’s not like the hostile regimes will have any effective, competent militaries; it’s now mostly a collection of manjaws, manginas, poofs, and troons, plus shitskins and mystery-meats of every shade and hue. So, if you don’t want a brown or mostly brown Muslim Europe (and again, that’s not the worst thing ever; but why give up on your civilization without a fight?), need unpozzed Americans and Russians to go in and un-cuck all of those countries. Come the Restoration, this should be the priority in terms of military objectives and cultural influence, rather than conquering the Global South or some such.
Of course, without solving the WQ, none of that will matter all that much – just that instead of dying very brown, you will die very white. But you’ll still be dead. This requires a dramatic cultural shift; but with the right faith — a faith conducive to healthy social technologies, and that inspires its adherents to preserve them — that is achievable. Thus the Christian Awakening in America should proceed to capture the hearts and minds of young Europeans, who have access to the internet and are literate in English. Really, if America actually un-pozzes and makes basedness high-status, the rest of the world will want to follow it. But need to remove the wicked elites that will be rather reluctant to follow it.
In the European context, I have little expectation that their current Kings, or any political leader informally serving a kingly function, will be able to pull that off. Perhaps if the yoke of Globohomo is lifted off their necks, but even then I’m not sure.
So the King might have to be an outsider, or indeed, if Europe is to be partitioned into different influence zones between America and Russia, there will be at least two Kings and at least two state religions, presumably Based Protestantism for those under American influence, and Based Orthodoxy for those under Russian influence.
Or maybe the American and the Russian Kings will nominate some local leaders in Europe as their vassals, in which case all is not lost even for the Catholics, albeit they will have to do some heavy theological lifting to become Based.

Once or twice a year I have to clear away all the dead branches, weeds, brush and other detritus that scatters itself around my very modestly-sized property, put it all into one big pile and burn it. The gathering takes several hours, the bonfire is nearly impossible to start without chemical fuel, and the fire takes an hour or two to burn fully, and needs to be constantly tended.
In other words, when the raw material is not only large but growing very aggressively, even burning it all down is not a quick fix; at least not if you want a controlled burn and intend to keep any part of the ecosystem alive. It takes work, and it takes energy.
You say we’ve gone back from 2024 to 2021. Okay, but let’s reflect on that. We had reached a point where everyone thought the cancerous growth was so far out of control that it was impossible to stop, being sucked in the left-singularity, drifting rudderless into WW3 as Jim would say. To have been able to not only freeze this, but actually reverse it, must be requiring enormous amounts of energy. Rolling back 3 years in only 3 months is actually a pretty big deal; imagine what could be accomplished in 48 months by simply keeping up the pace.
It might not feel like a lot, but they are trying to cut down an entire forest, and while they cut down one ten-acre area here, another ten-acre area there is sprouting up again. The Cathedral’s root system is incomprehensibly huge, its branches and tendrils reaching nearly everywhere, as we found out from USAID analysis. So yes, as the deadwood (and uh… live wood) gets cleared, we are going to see more weeds and wild trees sprouting up elsewhere that have to be put down again. And again and again and again. The judiciary is trying to consolidate power again, the media is trying to consolidate power again, etc.
300 years of unconstrained growth are not going to be undone in 3 months, no matter how efficiently the process is run. Most of us assumed from the get-go that Trump was not going to be the one to do it all, and that at best his current role is clearing enough of the field so that a successor like Vance can get the real job done. There’s no point in doing the Dissident Right Tango this early; progress can only be meaningfully measured over a period of months or years, and one bad week or even one bad month doesn’t mean very much in that context.
We have said what needs to be done, and I think they understand what needs to be done. Whether or not they can pull it off remains to be seen, but all we can really do right now is try to enjoy the ride.
The pessimism lies in the observation that the shock and awe campaign died quite quickly, we’re not even to summer yet. The one obviously working part of the federal coup has apparently been terminated, possibly due to Elon constantly sperging. He continued to get into public fights with the administration over immigration, trade policy, etc. Who knows what toes he stepped on off-stage.
The very important DEI purge has ground to an effective halt. To use your brush clearing analogy: they wandered about the woods, couldn’t tell what was rot, what was brush, what was weed, grasped about at one or two plants they could identify, but their fingers got tired before reaching the root. Thankfully they identified a particularly invasive latin bramble and are currently looking for some shears to start cutting at it.
We are protected for now by DJT, but the succession plan is not looking good. I don’t trust JDV, he has not been tested. Oration is not governance, and he comes from a suspect background. If something happens to DJT, and we get JDV, I’m not confident we can avoid WW3. The situation is looking mighty grim. I was optimistic at the term start, when DJT was reliably getting action done. Now, action looks less reliable, and the enemy has begun reorganizing in earnest. If the reports are true that Vance convinced Trump to earnestly enter negotiations with Iran, then he is clearly in the “isolationist” camp, and is in fact the leader thereof; thus he would be even less inclined to look for questionable military adventures than Trump. I also strongly suspect that he is not the greatest fan of the illegitimate Judeo-Nazi Azov Regime, and would have no problem metaphorically or literally woodchippering Zelensky. He is clearly positioning himself as the anti-war successor of Trump. Whether any of that can be truly counted on in the moment of truth is another story; politicians in a demotist era are snakes, generally speaking.
He is impressively consistent in saying the right things, which does count for something. Compare to Vivek, who tried his utmost best to say the right things, but failed still.

Well, obviously. Shock and awe is an opening move. If shock and awe means bombing a disorganized mass of barely bronze-age pederastic goat herders back to the stone age, then maybe a single blitz can bring about a decisive victory. If the enemy is well-defended, firmly entrenched, and on par with your own technological capability and logistical capacity, as for example is the case with Russia and the Ukraine, then no matter how well you plan and how effective the opening salvos are, it is going to turn into a war of attrition.
And just as Russia has been grinding down occupied Ukraine, Trump and Vance and Hegseth and the Doge guys and the people they are leading can find a way to grind down occupied America, if they have the will and the competence. Our war of attrition is a lot less kinetic, and we should probably hope it stays that way, but it is the same principle.
Sounds like spin to me, somewhere between outright falsehood and major exaggeration. Always consider the source. Just because the media isn’t talking about things like eliminating the Department of Education or pulling military aid from Ukraine, doesn’t mean it isn’t happening; and just because they make up stupid stories about discord within the administration, doesn’t mean it has any basis in reality.

The original plan for DoGE was a run continuing into 2026, and mysteriously Elon is leaving early, and the scope of the project severely curtailed. Musk also very publicly, he himself making it public, had several hissy fit disputes about government policy. I have no doubt he stepped on the wrong toes, and he himself got offended at the lack of absolute power he is accustomed to in his own compamies.
The massive infestation of cartels is such that slow removal is apt to be counterproductive. They will learn, adapt, and ally. What needs to happen, and thankfully what seems to be happening, is indiscriminate arrest and deportation of anyone slightly associated. Particularly if they are spotted wearing gang signs. The problem is this painfully slow rate is going to get ever so painfully slower, and ever more dangerous, if more serious action is not taken soon. The blue states are going to ally and use them in a substitute patron client relationship, to replace the lack of federal graft and rivers of meat.
I was not optimistic until the first month, when they immediately launched an all out war. Now, the war has been launched, but they have mysteriously stopped. There is no open and apparent reason for the stop, which is greatly worrying. Is it a lack of will?
Fisticuffs are a really bad analogy for group warfare; strategy and tactics change drastically when the enemy is not presenting a single obvious target.
But even in a boxing match, you have to slow down and catch your breath when your opponent gets his guard back up. Unless you can be sure you have vastly more stamina than he does, there is no point to “keep swinging” unless you want to gas yourself out.
You say there was no obvious reason to stop. I say there was no obvious reason it could have gone on indefinitely. Shock and awe ceases to be effective when the enemy is no longer in shock and in awe. It stopped because it had to stop, because it could only go on for as long as the regime was caught by surprise. Trump/Musk/DOGE were attempting to gain a foothold, and maybe they succeeded, maybe did not entirely succeed, but in any case the foothold is just the beginning of the campaign, especially when you are up against a far more numerous and entrenched force.
We don’t have a vast army with which to smash theirs after the front line is broken. We simply lack the infrastructure and the raw numbers. We have a small tactical group whose job it was to stealthily slip past the frontline defenses and start eliminating key players and disabling key infrastructure. Which they did, and are still doing, but is hard to do with constant velocity. There are going to be peaks and valleys.
I think you’re just craving exciting daily headlines and bummed that they’re not forthcoming. And this is why I never read the headlines, for the same reason I don’t check stock prices every day: it’s addictive, incorporates too much random noise, and apt to give you a false picture of volatility and long-term trends.
What I see is that the executive orders are still coming but the regime bureaucrats and regime media have more or less collected their wits and decided to focus on specific issues instead of chasing after every string dangled in front of them. From time to time I watch Trump’s executive orders. The thunderbolts are still coming. We just had several executive orders of the form “enforce law X against Y” The coercive power of the state is coming down on leftists.
To fret that the offensive has slowed – if it has – misses the point. It’s like fretting that a minute after the nuke was detonated over Hiroshima, it was not still detonating.
For example: In going after USAID, the Trump Admin seriously damaged the left’s funding. Now that that target has been destroyed, we can’t keep destroying it.
The analogy that we’ve gone from 2024 to 2021 gets the basic perspective wrong. The point is not that we’ve reset from Year Y to Year X. The point is the direction of movement. Everything has changed.
Except I’m seeing people dispute this; specifically, arguing that the shrieking on the left about these cuts is almost entirely performative, and that most of the funds and lefty patronage that was going through USAID is still going out, just through alternate, less direct, better-hidden routes. Some argue further that this — making lefty patronage less visible to outsiders — was the whole intent of going after USAID to begin with.
On one hand, I don’t see much evidence supporting these people’s contentions (and when pushed for some, they mostly fall back on “of course (((they))) have hidden alternate ways of moving shekels around wherever they want”), but given the left’s tendency to such performative shrieking, I don’t see how to rule it out offhand. Is there solid evidence that the funding has actually been damaged significantly, beyond just lefties crying about it?

I don’t want to lecture anyone on Christianity, but please let me share some musings. One basic problem with religions is that their gods are overly anthropomorphic, like super-men, which is not easily believable. Now Christ explicitly said no one goes to God the Father except through him. What does that imply?
I think it implies Christians to think that the Divine is something very much not similar to humans. Not a super-man. We link up with Christ’s human side, and He then sort of drives us to the Divine side, which is very “alien” and not understandable by humans without such an aid at all.
This enables Christians to think that the universe was not created by some old bearded dude, but have a more intelligent theology about at a not all human-like First Cause.
In Judaism and Islam humans should sort of try to go directly to God, which implies a very human-like God.
What do you think? I hope this is not a heresy. There MUST be a reason no one goes to the Father but through Christ and while the most commonly cited reason is original sin, this might be part of it, too.

An economic system that is pervasively crony capitalist eventually runs into the economic crisis that Britain is now suffering. As the productive assets of the cronies stop working, they use state favor to take over other peoples productive assets, which also stop working. And eventually everything is shut down. Although that sounds plausible from a theoretical point of view, it is false in practice. As I said, and as the historical record shows, crony capitalism just keeps going on. Adding the qualifier “if the state does not care” acknowledges my point I think. In practice the state and its cronies have to care and have to provide at least some value.
Crony capitalism is in a way similar to taxation. If you are forced to buy from crony capitalists you will be paying higher prices – a kind of tax. And taxation at certain levels can go on forever.
One could naively argue that the government would keep increasing the tax rate until it reaches 100% but of course at 100% the taxpayers will be dead. So in practice the state will try to steal as much as possible which in turn means being at least somewhat “reasonable”. Same thing with crony capitalism.
You are never forced to buy from crony capitalists long term, because crony capitalists in the long term do not produce anything real — if they remain cronies, they cease to be capitalists. You wind up, as in the FIRE economy, buying bits of paper from crony capitalists that give you permission to do some actual capitalism.
As in Britain, the state response to this problem is apt to be to force the remaining capitalists out of business.
So, what actually existent crony capitalists are still producing anything real? Who are you calling crony capitalists? Are you calling Musk a crony capitalist?
The state has an incentive to not destroy its tax base, so if it is capable of acting as unitary actor, it will not. Unfortunately modern states are less and less capable of acting as a unitary actor, so are taxing and regulating further and further above the Laffer limit.

Here is how Crony Capitalism works in practice:

Frustrated, the government allocates a further forty billion. Again, no actual broadband ensues. Except of course, Starlink, which of course gets no government funding.
Since the rules as written say that Starlink is entitled to a handout. and is the only internet provider entitled to a handout, litigation is ongoing, but I really don’t expect any progress until Trump starts giving judges and senior civil servants long distance swimming lessons in the Pacific. Or at least starts confiscating their mysteriously acquired wealth.
It is a lot easier to stop civil servants from doing bad things, than it is to actually make them do their jobs.
This is how crony capitalism normally works. If that is not how it works, it is not crony capitalism.

Crony capitalism very obviously exists. Crony capitalism also is not “corporatism”, or what a linguistic quibbler such as myself would more accurately term “corpocracy”. That word is just another fnord for communists and assorted lefty riffraff to express their hatred of the productive class.
There is an actual, true word for the hypothetical system you’re describing in which big corporations are always and inextricably in bed with the government: Fascism. The original, authentic, vine-ripened Italian brand, where the government sets all production targets but corporations handle the public-facing trade. It is not corporations running the government, it is government running corporations, but it is the closest approximation to what you describe that actually exists in reality, or can exist.
Fascism, being just another flavor of central planning, is an extremely left-wing form of government, only very slightly less left-wing than Communism or Socialism.
The United States are not Fascist, even though it might look that way from a certain perspective. The United States are, functionally speaking, a theocratic republic. Status is gained and lost by piety, money chases status, business chases money; thus business will always try to make a big show of supporting the state religion, far more so than they would in a non-theocratic regime. The business sector also has a sordid history of falling for its own bullshit, getting high off its own farts, pick your favorite analogy here.
The religion, of course, is Progressivism. I call it a Republic but the estates don’t have any relationship to the nominal estates defined in the U.S. Constitution. The estates of the TRA are the Press (already unironically called the Fourth Estate), the Academy, and the Bureaucracy.
I don’t know if you’ve ever worked for big business, but I have. They live and die by the Press; a week of “bad press” is worse than losing half your revenue. They faithfully serve the Academy, whose teachings, such as the doubleplus goodness of Diversity Inclusion Equity, are often filtered through Consultants and strange mercenary C-suite titles like Chief Compliance Officer or Chief Risk Officer. And their behavior is carefully monitored and enforced by lifetime members of the Bureaucracy, what the Soviets called zampolit, and what we call “HR”.
This is the actuality of the modern corporate structure. The reason it is so broken is not because corporations seek to maximize profits (though they do, of course, seek to maximize profits) but because they are attempting to serve at least three masters simultaneously: the shareholders, the nominal (constitutional) government, and the functional (theocratic) government. It is impossible to give equal attention to all three, which is why in a healthy society, the nominal and functional governments are the same entity, and that entity strictly delegates its supervisory responsibility to the corporation’s shareholders and pledges non-interference outside of stopping flagrant criminal conduct.
But our system forces them to actually try to serve all three masters at once, and they can’t. What they can do, and this is how most corporations cope, is tithing and indulgences. Diversity Inclusion Equity and Sarbanes-Oxley are tithes; they are simply a “cost of doing business” beyond normal taxation. Carbon credits and troon quotas are indulgences; they buy a certain number of months or years of the functional government getting off their back so that they can actually do business for a while without interference. Or at least, they used to, back when the functional government was agreement-capable; Thermidor is in large part a reaction to the Progressive theocracy repeatedly and retroactively changing the terms of the deal. I think it was Marc Andreessen who did an enlightening interview on this, which was posted here a while back.
Is it any surprise that money flows from corporations to government and NGO offices? What would you do, if your livelihood was being threatened by regulation or lawfare, from an entity you dare not confront openly? You wheedle, you beg, you bribe… or else you fold your hand and end up on the street. And once you are already in the habit of bribing someone just to be able to run your own business, why not pass along a little extra once in a while to make life harder for your competitors? What happened in the 1936 was Italian style fascism, where the state subjugated and crushed the capitalists. This was institutional preparation for total war. At the end of the war, congress abruptly reversed this, and reinstituted a somewhat watered down version of modern capitalism — modern capitalism being the system implemented in the seventeenth century by the Dutch Republic and Charles the Second in England.
“Modern corporate structure” is confusing terminology. I call it postmodern corporate structure, because the term “Modern capitalism” refers to the system implemented in the seventeenth century. The term “stakeholder capitalism” is also used in Europe, but this a propaganda term, because in practice “stakeholder capitalism” means that power is held in the corporation by people who have no stake in its continued existence and functioning: HR, accounting, and legal.

The state owned factories were a text book example of outright communism, not crony capitalism. And the black market wasn’t and isn’t “real capitalism”. Indeed black markets provide goods of lower quality/higher prices just like crony capitalism. Black markets are created by state intervention, even if that’s not the official intent. Now, black markets may be better than outright communism, but they are not “real capitalism”.
Black markets are the purest and truest form of capitalism. The objective of my project is to make all markets black, and bring the modern corporate form (by which I mean the seventeenth century corporate form, not the postmodern corporate form of Sarbannes-Oxley accounting and Human Resources) to black markets everywhere.
Over 1/4-1/3 of all total economic activity in wartime America was technically ‘black market’, according to the strictures that the FDR regime put into place. And the FDR regime – or at least a significant enough subset thereof – had to let it happen.

Arms manufacture eventually fails to produce goods, and the urgency of war leads to them being bypassed in favor of arms manufacturers who do produce goods. This is happening now with the Navy, where the argument for recreating a civilian ship building industry is that the Navy will be able to contract with them to produce ships. For some considerable time the Navy has been paying large amounts of money to arms manufacturers, but no ships have been forthcoming.
Pharma produces goods, but the stuff that is actually useful is the generics, which are produced by real capitalists. From time to time new pharma businesses appear with real drugs, and fight an enormous battle to get approved, and if they succeed, become crony capitalists, that being the only way to get approved, and once they are cronies, milk that forever and stop doing anything very useful.

You are analyzing “crony capitalists” as if they are a unitary game-theoretic agent. They aren’t. This is a problem that plagues all kinds of human action, and in politics it affects both sides.
Taxation and other economic burdens (regulations etc.) have grown out of control precisely because no single leftist benefits from exerting self-restraint and it’s a hard problem to organize collective self-restraint. It’s not as if there’s no such thing as taxation beyond the Laffer limit, or other forms of economic burdens that kill the Golden Goose.
Similarly, leftists have a collective action problem in stopping their holiness spiral; they have been unable to even to slow it down. Presumably if leftists could act as a unitary actor, they would abandon their current position of “We hate sick children and we love violent foreign invaders and child-grooming homosexuals.” But the collective nature of their holiness spiral prevents them from doing this.

Merchants have an inherent disability when it comes to being in the driver’s seat. This can be observed in the fact that you can see many of them trying to profit off of throwing themselves off a cliff (eg ‘companies benefit from diversity, equity, and inclusion’). The wet-streets-cause-rain analysis says that if someone threw themselves off a cliff, it must have been in their interest to throw themselves off a cliff, and hence they are making the people making them throw themselves off a cliff to make them throw themselves off a cliff.
I have not yet seen merchants throwing themselves off a cliff. What I have seen is managers throwing companies off a cliff; companies the managers did not own. The managers were administrators like officials in public admistration or government.
Managers who do not own the business they are managing are very different from managers who are part of the family that own the business.

So in a sense the claim of the medical examiners that the cop killed him was true, but it is unlikely that he would have died if restrained in that manner while not full of dangerous drugs, and unlikely the cop would have needed to restrain him in that manner had he not been full of dangerous drugs.
Fentanyl by itself is likely to kill you. Meth by itself is likely to kill you. Meth leads to violence and violence is likely to kill you. The combination of the meth plus fentanyl is a lot more likely to kill you than either alone. Saint Floyd of Fentanyl died of meth plus fentanyl plus violence. He injected himself with the meth, he injected himself with the fentanyl, and he initiated the violence.
And for the noble cause that cops in America should handle people out of their brains on dangerous drugs with kid gloves, the French family company set fire to their primary family asset.

I think Jim likes the King James Version best; he always uses citations from there. Obviously, if you can’t read the original (whatever it is you consider to be “original”), it’s always a good idea to consult several different translations.
The King James version is the best bible, but they erred in favouring the Masoretic Text. However this is mostly stuff that does not matter, except where in the New Testament, the disciples keep quoting stuff from the Septuagint that differs from the Masoretic text.
Josephus in his history claims to be working from Hebrew texts, and his history, and thus his Hebrew texts agree with the Septuagint, in giving the patriarchs a timeline that is consistent with Egyptian history, while the Masoretic timeline is incompatible with the Egyptian history, which history was surely known to the people who wrote the original Hebrew text, so the Masoretic timeline has to be a copyist corruption or a deliberate fabrication.
The Masoretic text also purges some Messiah related material.
On the other hand, the Orthodox bibles, which correctly favor the Septuagint, have their own problems.
Favouring the Masoretic is a reflection of the excessive Judaizing by the protestant reformers. Reform was needed, and had to be done, but they purity spiraled rather too hard, purifying Jesus and Paul. If the Septuguint was good enough for Jesus and the apostles, it should have been good enough for the protestants. Should not have trusted the Jews to keep to their original texts.
