Delusion and end of the Ukraine war

If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle. Hello? The west has been succumbing in every battle.

A deal should have been made in July 2023 when it became obvious that the Ukraine was trapped in a war of attrition that it was losing. And therefore the only possible outcome is a neutral buffer state Ukrainian government governing a considerably reduced rump Ukraine.

Once it becomes obvious that you are losing a war of attrition, you either have to break out of it into war of maneuver, which is what they tried and dismally failed to do in June 2023, or else make a deal while you still have some bargaining chips left, for if it goes on, and on, and on, you will have fewer and fewer bargaining chips left. And today, how many chips does the Ukraine have left?

The Washington establishment was deep delusion until after Trump was elected, whereupon some elements of the Washington establishment finally dared say that the Ukraine has very few bargaining chips left. But all remain in perfect accord that it is quite unthinkable that the outcome will be a neutral buffer state, and that Trump could not possibly dare let that happen. So he will have to find some new chips to bring to the table. Like what?

In the events leading up to this war, and over the course of this war, the Ukraine have recruited over two million men, probably less than three million men. Somewhere in the ballpark of two and half million men.

If all Ukrainian brigades were fully staffed, then all known brigades would add up to three hundred and seventy thousand men. We know that lots of brigades have lost most of their men, and frequently these men have not been replaced, but on the other hand, there may be brigades we don’t know about. The existing brigades complain a lot about how new brigades are being formed, while old used up brigades do not get new men. Somewhere in the ballpark of three hundred thousand men, and shrinking rapidly. They are conscripting thirty thousand a month, they do not seem to be able to train and equip thirty thousand a month, and if they were able to train and equip that many would not be nearly enough to keep up with their losses.

So the Ukraine has something like one ninth of the men it has recruited left. That is getting mighty close to the army disappearing completely. Of course it continues to recruit fresh bodies, but this is getting harder and harder. As long as it recruits fresh cannon fodder, the Russians cannot advance very fast, so the process is likely to continue till they run out completely. You could see the eyes of the neocons glitter as they excitedly said “To the last Ukrainian”. They intend to literally use up ever single Ukrainian.

At this point the only rational course of action for the Ukraine is to unconditionally lay down their arms and disband the army, because the threat of delaying the inevitable is not much of a bargaining chip, even though they could probably delay the inevitable for quite a while longer. The only thing they can do is try to get as much Russian goodwill as possible, or at least stop generating bad will. Unfortunately, the Ukraine is run from Washington, via Canada, and the people running it do not want Ukrainians to get any Russian goodwill. If they cannot ensure very many Russian dead, they would like to ensure as many as possible Ukrainian dead.

Trump, of course, rather likes Ukrainians, because he rather likes everyone, and would strongly prefer as few as possible dead on both sides. Unfortunately he is not running the government, and one may well doubt he will be running the government after 2025 January the twentieth. Trump has nominated Tulsi Gabbard to run the spooks, and the Ukraine is administered through the spook agencies. There is extreme resistance to this. Any personnel that would give effect to Trump’s policy is going to face extreme resistance, and Tulsi Gabbard is facing extreme resistance. The reason that Trump nominated her, rather than someone with better spook background, is probably that Tulsi Gabbard strongly wants to end the war. Personnel is policy. Despite Trump’s promise to end the war on the first day, the Ukraine is likely to keep on fighting until after Tulsi Gabbard takes control of the spooks.

Tulsi Gabbard may be unable to take power, which would represent Trump failing to take power, and if she does take power elements of the spooks are talking about blowing off the US Government and continuing the operation from Canada and Europe, but without backing from America, they are going to lose power by and by, which could take a while.

Regardless of what happens in Washington, it will not change the outcome. It was entirely obvious by 2023 July that at the end of this war, the rump of Ukraine will be governed by an officially neutral buffer state government.

What we have yet to know, what remains in doubt, is whether that neutral buffer state government will be installed by Trump through Tulsi Gabbard and the spooks, or whether more Ukrainians are going to die, and then it is going be installed by Putin.

someDude says:

As long as Biden’s handlers don’t kick off WW3 and end civilization, I’ll consider it a win regardless of which way things go. It’s tragic to lose so many men taking orders from those who wish them dead, but what’s done is done.

I really hope Jim is right that GAE does not have any more cards left to escalate. Would they be insane enough to blockade Kaliningrad?

dharmicreality says:

Putin has been extremely sane and trying everything to avoid World War 3, and has been showing utmost restraint so far. But even his limits will be stretched if the GAE war faction control even under Trump.

The priority is clear: Harvard should be obliterated stone by stone. Globohomo must be incinerated so thoroughly that the faith evaporates completely without trace. Everything else can wait.

Even if we have wars between other competing faiths later, that can be dealt with later. This alone is of utmost importance.

Contaminated NEET says:

That is a scary thought. If (when) Trump fails to control the government and the GAE only escalates further, it’ll be WWIII. I think I’ll go buy some iodine.

Fidelis says:

Nukes would be a blessing. They’re killing and maiming children, far and above the behavior of the city that coined the term Sodomy, of which there is plenty of in every city worthy of flattening. Such destruction would create chaos and opportunity, enough to kickstart the change in leadership necessary for our civilization to survive. Note the memes comparing Hiroshima to Detroit.

If you were a proper blackpiller, you would be denying that nukes would ever be used, that they’re all duds, that no one is capable of pressing the button. That the EHC bugs have it all under control.

Contaminated NEET says:

Fair enough. Nuclear exchange could be the black swan that saves us. It would still pay to have iodine on hand.

someDude says:

Too many innocents would die along with the evildoers. Hopefully, it won’t come to that. Hopefully Trump and his team will come through. This time, he can’t afford normality bias. It’s not just him getting killed. Civilization itself might end if he persists in normality bias.

Contaminated NEET says:

>Too many innocents would die along with the evildoers.

True. But in the long run, if the problem isn’t solved, it’s going to kill even more innocents.

Heaven brings forth innumerable things to nurture man.

Man has nothing good with which to recompense Heaven.

Kill. Kill. Kill. Kill. Kill. Kill. Kill.

Jim says:

Havel’s Greengrocer will cheerfully say the words of any faith when the heat comes down, and seldom notice he is contradicting himself.

But when one faith is facing war with an enemy faith, it wants to identify the true believers in the enemy faith. And these can be identified by words and rituals. This method of identifying the enemy has been in use for millennia, and has worked for millennia.

People cannot believe that these tests work, because most people are accustomed to politely saying anything necessary for social lubrication, and not taking it too seriously. But, amazingly, they do work.

someDude says:

There was a hollywood movie that plays out a scenario in which the Russians launch a nuke against the USA. The full out nuke war is forestalled by one of the Russian Elite eliminating the ruling elite and making peace with the US. Who knew when the movie was made that Hollywood was talking about their own Elite. The left always projects. And this particular thing scares me!

alf says:

The only part that confuses me is with the north Korean involvement. What’s up with that? Does not seem like they are actively fighting on the front line, but does seem like they are receiving training in Russia.

Fidelis says:

Russia smells WW3. So does everyone else. So they’re preparing.

Me says:

It’s a warning – if you send troops, we have willing allies, too.

Varna says:

The Norks are on the frontlines, in the sense of engaging Ukrainian troops, but within “Russia proper” territory, i.e. Kursk oblast, which the Ukraine gloriously invaded. So western headlines are *true* (“Ukrainians units have been known to fight North Korean units”), but the overall hypno suggestion (“Nork hordes overrun Ukraine”) is at this date 100% false.

The logical win-win is Norks stay within Kursk, without crossing over into “internationally recognized Ukraine”, thus freeing up Russian army manpower, while at the same time learning warfare in the first peer-to-peer war in Europe since 1945.

Plus, both Russia and Ukraine stand on Soviet military tech and doctrine, as do the Norks, so this no doubt facilitates easier knowhow transfer. A frog or kraut or limey brigade on the same front would be able to learn less and more slowly, because of very different institutional programming.

At the start of the war proper in feb 2022, first Russia tried to do “Western warfare” and failed, then the Ukraine did a “Western warfare” counteroffensive with failed.

Russia has returned to a modernized Soviet style warfare, but with an emphasis on trying to limit casualties, with slows down things even further, whereas the Ukraine tried this, but no longer has the human capital for Soviet warfare, so when possible they try to cobble together a working mixture of what Red and Western doctrine fragments they can get to work, with updated versions of the post WWI typical Ukrainian fast pinprick style warfare of Nestor Makhno’s anarchist peasantry cavalry.

Me says:

Zero evidence of that and compelling evidence would be extremely easy to obtain. It’s akin to being unable to prove they are fighting against the Russians, utterly ridiculous.

A2 says:

To me, NK troops implies Russia will conversely help out NK if and when that time comes.

Me says:

They already did, the land route to Kaliningrad was blockaded for more than a month, but they were patiently reminded that the treaty recognizing the right of passage is the same treaty that recognizes their borders and that they really really do in fact want that treaty to remain in force.

someDude says:

And they actually paid attention? Not so insane then. But the guys who paid attention then may not be in charge of affairs now. We don’t know who’s calling the shots, so we don’t know of any changing of the guard. Man, this is scary. I can’t wait for Jan 21 soon enough.

Me says:

They consider(ed) the current war to be all upside for them, so they didn’t want it to change dimensions. As long as Putin is responding to all escalations only against ukraine, a de facto, but not a de jure member of nato (so they can pretend otherwise), they don’t care, but they really do not want a response against a de jure member of nato, since that would inevitably shatter the myth of military supremacy they have carefully cultivated.

someDude says:

Then they are merely conmen. Conmen are not as scary as those who are insane. I fear these people are really insane. Some one else must have been in charge during the Kaliningrad fiasco

Me says:

They are not suicidal. Nobody even remotely close to power ever goes to war themselves and neither do their children. If they were suicidal at least some of them would be in a hurry to die and give it a go, but it’s all bluster and moves for maximum media effect instead.

someDude says:

Can one not be insane without being suicidal?

Me says:

Since they are not suicidal, you can comfortably predict they are not going to make moves that put them personally in danger, no matter how crazy they may appear. Ultimately there are always limits and the truly crazy present a real danger to other powerful people around them and thus tend to have shorter lifespans.

Jim says:

I have news. Dei is primarily the pervert priesthood, and the black etcetera priesthood are mascots and second class. And the pervert priesthood has an extraordinarily high rate of suicide, and a startlingly high rate of homicide. We are dealing with people who want to die, and are staying alive in the hope that they can take everyone else with them.

Cloudswrest says:

They’re definitely trying to kill as many Ukrainian males as possible!

“Biden Ramps Up Pressure On Ukraine To Lower Conscription Age From 25 To 18”

President Joe Biden’s administration is urging Ukraine to quickly increase the size of its military by drafting more troops and revamping its mobilization laws to allow for the conscription of troops as young as 18.

A senior Biden administration official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss the private consultations, said Wednesday that the outgoing Democratic administration wants Ukraine to lower the mobilization age to 18 from the current age of 25 to help expand the pool of fighting-age men available to help a badly outnumbered Ukraine in its nearly three-year-old war with Russia.

Like how the actual war aim in Afghanistan was to teach Afghani girls to put condoms on bananas, it appears you’ve discovered the actual war aim in the Ukraine.

He cries out in pain as he sends you out to die.

Me says:

I wouldn’t say it was a mystery of any kind, since they were super eager to use “to the last ukranian” meme, even though it immediately resulted in the exact same completely unchanged meme being used against them, i.e. they were working against themselves, but they just couldn’t help themselves in their giddy excitement that they are going to kill millions of ukranians, because unlike the retarded ukranians, they do not differentiate between russian and ukranian. They know full well they are the same people.

DF says:

Hi. Yeah, if the “russians” in ua were actually russian, they either should have split from the non-“russians”, coalesced themselves to the east, and seceded, [*deleted*]

Jim says:

The reason that the Global American Empire has been trying since 2014 to murder all of them, is because that is exactly what they did.

DF says:

[*deleted for insanity*]
Show documentation, not blather on blogs and fake “news” partisan op-eds outlet hacks, that any group of these “‘Russians’ living inside border of UA” did all of the following first:

– Written petition for redress, lobbying, etc
– Voting, referendums, etc
– Physically separated all of themselves from the “Ukrainians” by physically moving and relocating directly abutting to and adjoined on to Russia’s border, coalescing and clarifying themselves into a bloc of purity so that they can further and far more easily claim to be a distinct, combined, and whole party thus easier for all sides to move forward together on with such clarity.
– Formally declared in writing their Independence and Secession from UA.
– Formally declared in writing their interest in, and joining of, Russia, to include annexing that now purely composed section of abutting land that they moved to.
[*deleted for insanity*]

Jim says:

You don’t petition a regime that will burn you alive, and it is difficult to flee a regime that is laying down minefields and barbed wire entanglements along the areas outside its control.

Petitions are not indicative under these circumstances. What is indicative is in what areas it is possible to petition without being tortured and killed. And in those areas they have been petitioning Russia to be allowed to join since 2014.

When an ordinary Russian looks west, whether he lives in Moscow or Donbas, he sees a west that brutal, despotic, aggressive, terrifyingly expansionist. and unyieldingly bent on the destruction of Russia. He sees Hitler’s Wehrmacht in 1940.

That perception is a little one sided and unfair, but that is what the West looks like if one is on the receiving end. That is how the west looks to Russians, how it looks to Serbians, how it looks to Syrians, how it looks to Libyans, and how it looks to a substantial part of Africa.

The reason the vast majority of Russians enthusiastically vote for Putin is not because dissenting voices are silenced. There is vastly more dissent in Russia than there is in Western Academia, the Western mainstream media, or Western mainstream social media before Musk took over X. There is, and always has been, a pile of Russian dissent on Telegram, which is their X. The reason that Putin gets overwhelming support is that the average Russian figures that Globohomo might burn him alive.

Jehu says:

Yeah it’s probably more accurate to call it a perverted hybrid of Puritans, Faggots, and the Borg than the German army of WW2. Slower genocide with much better PR.

Mayflower Sperg says:

Thank you, Senator Graham, for telling the Ukrainian people that their loved ones died to secure cheap minerals for American industry. Truly a worthy cause!

Considering the people who actually matter here, how about giving Putin whatever he wants in the Ukraine, in exchange for him telling his friends in the Middle East to go easy on Israel?

someDude says:

And yet the Ukrainians continue to fight and not desert or surrender to the Russians. This war has truly black-pilled me about human nature

Jim says:

Some of them continue to fight, but the number is shrinking rapidly. I doubt there have been two million casualties, but there are two million recruits who somehow, one way or another way, are not fighting any more. The overwhelming majority of recruits are somehow not around any more.

someDude says:

I really really hope this is what is happening. Some of them have got to know and feel in their bones that their leaders want them dead, right?

alf says:

It is sort of impressive. Would’ve been more impressive if they weren’t fighting as expendable useful idiots.

someDude says:

Thats just my point. How impressively they would have fought under the leadership of a Good Man for a Good cause. How beneficial such a fight would have been for Man and for civilization in that case. How tragic to lose so many obeying Evil men. Just following orders ……..

Me says:

You can find plenty of complaints about the large number of people who desert, the last one I saw claimed 900 a day.

Your Uncle Bob says:

I don’t see Yarvin telling us how to win there at all. While it’s tricky to critique a guy (Yarvin) who’s got more raw IQ than myself, I’ll take it on anyway.

Mixed with a great deal of truth (power of the bureaucratic presidency over the actual president, weakness of pursuing individual tactical budgetary victories) are several misdirections. Conflating all the Trump team with business as usual GOP, for one (elides the two major factions vying for control of the figurehead). Saying “there are no Elders of Zion;” a dual misdirection in saying there is no central direction and telling us not to worry about the jews. Saying elections don’t matter, when a Kamala presidency would have accelerated white genocide (and I’d have arrived there without Jim, just from Antifa and BLM, though I might have still been calling it South African style farm raids), where a Trump presidency gives our side both more time and more momentum – i.e. they matter very much.

But the big one is the urge to turn from Trump’s executive push to capturing Congress. If we did have time and we didn’t have Trump (and Company; in fact I put no faith in Trump the man at all yet still use his name as shorthand for & Co.) capturing Congress would be a defensible goal. In our current circumstances… I still don’t like our odds exactly, but the best play is to back the red-pilled-est faction among Trump’s team, not pivot away from it before they’ve even started.

A lesser critique, more an aside: with time and distance and skepticism, Yarvin here strikes me as a little cutesy and precious. I could do without the repeated “Lols,” the “probably won’t happens,” the “sorry if you’re learning this for the first time.” At best it’s self indulgent; paranoically, the repetition of the phrase “won’t happen” is a way of slipping that attitude in rhetorically rather than rationally.

Contra Sher Singh I see Yarvin black-pilling here. And if I didn’t know his history I’d even wonder if he’d flipped and was trying to get out ahead of the reactionary right and lead the parade off a cliff. But much more likely he’s an intelligent guy who’s broadly on our side, but convinced the clock still points to Normal and trees grow forever (with a side order of don’t look too closely at the jews).

A further aside: Yarvin does remind me that Russ Vought is on Trump’s team. If personnel is policy that’s a reason for optimism, in contrast to the new AG nominee.

Sher Singh says:

Clicking around from that first Sam Kriss link, I liked this turn of phrase, from another article by him: “…the standard formula of American liberalism – eternal war abroad coupled with rationally administered dispossession at home and an ethics centred on where people should be allowed to piss and shit – is a toxic and unlovable ideology…”

And yet – then he still doubles down on hating Trump, hating Trump voters, hating 300 years of Amerikaners generally, so not even an ally of convenience. Still, it’s refreshing to encounter a leftist who still possesses some small shred of self-awareness and analytic ability. Vanishingly rare these days, but the glimpse shows how they once ruled, and how weak-minded their bioleninist scum travelling companions are in comparison.

Jim says:

I was watching some alt left videos. They backed Kamala as the lesser evil during the election, but it was completely obvious to me, though not to them, that they experienced the election result as a liberation and weight off their shoulders, as tremendous relief. They hate Amerikaners, therefore hate Trump, but just as blacks who hate whites and claim America is horribly racist feel way safer in white areas than black areas, they feel way safer with Amerikaners in charge. What they actually feel is “Daddy is home. I hate Daddy because he will not let me be naughty, but no one is going to be naughty to me.”

Epimetheus says:

This is incisive. The Daddy Issues core of leftism can be overcome with fatherly governance – an actual patriarchy.

What say you all? Caused by DEI or just the general drop in elite IQ?

Jim says:

The trouble with DEI is not so much that they are hiring blacks, women, and transexuals, as that they are hiring priests of an evil religion. You look at these diversity hires. They are not black, they are black political activists, not females, but female political activists, not gay, but gay activists. And once they are in, they will find grounds to purge anyone in the upper jobs who is not a priest of their religion.

skippy says:

I’ve seen first hand people who meet the DEI identity criteria better being passed over in favor of “whiter”, “maler” candidates who don’t just meet the DEI identity criteria (sometimes, only if you squint) but make clear that they are more interested in DEI than the core business of the company.

Varna says:

Likewise with new “modern audience” media. Back in the day no one minded a strong Ripley blasting aliens, a strong Leah choking Jabba, Will Smith and that other negro in Bad Boys, Eddie Murphy flics, Wesley Snipes, Robin Williams being a flaming fag in Birdcage and his tranny wife.

Talented actors in films made by talented people, with absolutely no need for them to yell shaming hysterics at you to try and force you to watch their stuff. Because it was inherently watchable.

Performative hysterics, shaming tactics, gaslighting, these are all at core toxic female tactics, which, with the inclusion of women (and feminine ethnicities, cough) into society, and then them rapidly taking over, have become highly prevalent tools of social engineering and fake reality enforcement. Hysterics, shaming, gaslighting. Victim card.

However, these tactics only work where the free market has been subverted beyond a certain point. Where it hasn’t been subverted, people simply don’t watch the movies, don’t stream the shows, don’t play the games, don’t read the books and comics, don’t listen to the music. And now, with the current Trumpist victory, something resembling a free market in the political idea realm has been restored as well, or at least proven to be possible to achieve with enough smarts, courage, determination, and willingness to pay the price.

The tactics of hysterics, shaming, gaslighting, and victim-playing only work when you’re a captured audience with no alternatives, and even tuning out is also forbidden in one way or another

Another obvious influence of the female energy in TV serials specifically is the substitution of the masculine self-contained episode with a beginning, a middle, and an end, with endless story arcs spanning seasons upon seasons of bullshit, with no structure whatsoever, no rhythm, melodrama and acting out instead of character depth, dialogues written by people without inner dialogues, friendships written by people without friends, etc. Soap opera in short. Everything became soap opera, structure-wise, story-wise, character-wise, dialogue-wise.

The Cominator says:

Yeah as I’ve said people don’t mind action girls per se that much (girl bosses otoh are hard not to hate). Action girls are just tomboyish girls taken to an unrealistic extreme. Men IRL for the most part don’t hate tomboys (particularly if they ain’t dykes) and tomboys long predated feminist and any sort of ideology.

Starbuck from the Battlestar Galactica remake became a popular character despite people initially being pissed they replaced a male character with a chick because it wasn’t a DEI caricature (in fact other than being a good pilot she was the kind of emotional wreck you’d expect of a woman doing a profession women really aren’t suited for).

Yul Bornhold says:

The big break from feminism/egalitarianism to woke/antiracism is that the woke forms overtly hate you. In the original Star Wars film, Princess Leia is a tough girl who resists torture and shoots stormtroopers. In contrast, Disney Star Wars gave us Kathleen Kennedy’s harridan lecture that “the Force is female.”

Normies didn’t mind the tough female lead in Alien or Terminator but in the later remakes, when the producers and HR crowd tells you that they’re deliberately casting diversoids because white men are bad, white men naturally turned out not to be so enthusiastic about that.

Jim says:

The basic problem is worse than that. The DEI priesthood hates the IP, and wants to make the fans cry. Live action Snow White, Miss Marvel, Miss Hulk, the latest Loki movie, the destruction of Luke Skywalker being good examples.

The DEI priesthood running Jaguar just hates Jaguars, and is just bored by cars and car manufacture. The DEI priesthood running Boeing has no interest in planes, and accordingly, planes have just stopped rolling off the assembly line. They just don’t care. They don’t actively dislike planes the way Jaguar management just hates Jaguars, but Jaguar’s plans to make a new, less masculine and manly, car, is just vague incoherent formless cloud, much like the game Concord or the movie “The Acolyte” (usually referred to as lesbian witches in space).

The Youtube channels did a detailed autopsy on how Concord came to be created. And now I am seeing the same thing happen to open source. Power is taken by people whose only interest in the goals of the organisation is that they just hate the organisational goals and just hate the people who make it function.

The German car makers are still making cars with standard Germanic efficiency (there is a lot of ruin in a nation, and a lot of ruin in an old corporation) but now they are making cars that no one wants. No one bought the game Concord, no one watched “Lesbian Witches in Space”, and no one is buying German cars. Because the latest car models are designed by people with no interest in cars, and no competence in designing them. Boeing is still attempting to roll its old plane model off the assembly line, has no coherent plans for any new models, and, while German cars are still rolling, Boeing’s assembly lines are no longer rolling.

The intermediate stage of priestly takeover is that the organisation is incapable of doing new things. The final stage is that it can no longer do the old things.

Which brings us back to war in the Ukraine. America just cannot fight wars any more, and any attempt to negotiate with external adversaries has to be done in this circumstance. America has to accept that it urgently needs peace, is all out of bargaining chips, and will have to accept a shockingly one sided peace while it addresses its internal problems.

Yarvin argues that to remove a priesthood, you have to use the methods that the Nazis used against their faggot infestation after they won power in Germany, and the allies used against the Nazis after they conquered Germany. The Cominator would approve.

I think a gentler touch would suffice, but my idea of a gentle touch still involves re-education camps in Alaska, sodomites being thrown from high buildings, and commies going for long distance swimming lessons. Just considerably fewer of them than the Cominator has in mind.

Counterpoint: 20th century feminism and egalitarianism was worse than woke because it was more competent. Badass action girls and strong independent women in movies and TV wreaked tremendous damage to the psychosexual natures of those who grew up watching that kind of media (boomers, Gen X, millennials), exactly because that media is entertaining and plausible. While approximately nobody takes the Black Little Princess seriously.

Ripley and Leah are neither “strong, indipendent wimmin”, nor even some kind of “action girls”.

Ripley is a blue collar worker not unlike, say, seamstresses in R.I.P. European textile industry. And the Alien franchise is essentially about motherhood, especially the second movie, Aliens. Tell me of one mother that would not burn to ashes everything that threatens her little one(s), if she only could?

Leah? Okay, her taking part in her own rescue by strangling Jabba is laudable, but not so unexpected miracle no one has ever heard of or not attempted by any real woman, ever.

I’ve never watched new Galactica, but the original one was one of first TV series I remember. With Real Men as Starfighters.

Niiiidriveevof says:

since the 60s, it is in itself political to depict a woman getting herself out of danger rather than being captured/rescued by a man, because it can’t help but be a subversion of the damsel in distress trope. everyone understands that subverting that trope means “women can take care of themselves*”. for the same reasons, it is in itself political to depict a woman as the most level-headed one in a crisis. depicting mixed-race couples is also the same. any narrative depicting these things (without some element that neutralizes the progressive meaning) in a cultural context sufficiently similar to ours is progressive. bringing in a motherhood element does improve it, but that’s not enough to neutralize the progressive meaning.

The Cominator says:

The BSG remake’s 1st two seasons (including the opening miniseries) is actually really good I would recommend it. Don’t watch it after the episode where one of the all time hatable girlbosses (Admiral Cain) gets shot though it falls off STEEPLY after that.

Upravda says:

@Niiiidriveevof
It might be true, all those “itself political depictions” you are mentioning, but back in Eighties, and even later, no one saw them as such. No feminists pedestalized Ripley (or Leah, or Sarah Connor) as some role models, cosplayed on -cons was only Leah, and only in that completely un-empowering metal bikini, and the fan base for those movies and their characters remained firmly male.

Well, it seems that producers doubled down so I guess that recent franchises’ production is quite insufferable. OTOH, I did watch the last Terminator a few years ago, with my brother, in cinema, that one in which gray Schwarzy says I will not be back. And it was actually a surprisingly cool movie.

Jim says:

> but back in Eighties, and even later, no one saw them as such

When slave Leia strangles Jabba the Hutt and rescues herself, everyone in 1983 saw it as sacrificing plot and story to ram politics down the throat of the audience.

Upravda says:

@Jim
Nuts. 🙂
I did watch Return of the Jedi in cinema back in… summer ’84, I think, with my father and older brother. I was kiddo back then, but absolutely nobody saw it as the “story to ram politics down the throat of the audience”. That simply would not compute back then.
Hard to remember details now, but when retelling the story in school because of some school task, “comradess”, that’s how we called female teacher back then, compared the character of Leah as some kind of modern Little Red Riding Hood who also kicked Wolf’s ass.
Few years later there was Star Trek: TNG, and that series was seen as some kind of American socialism, progressivism, whatever, so I don’t think we were so blind.

Jim says:

I wass not a kid, and did see it as ramming politics down the throat of the audience, and so did quite a lot of people. Having slave Leia strangle Jabba the Hutt and rescue herself was controversial and offensive. So, not everyone, but a substantial number of people. A whole lot of people in the audience saw that at that point that strong independent whoman who don’t need no man was not going to wind up with Hans Solo and were disappointed, spoiling the romantic tension. We instantly knew that politics had overruled story. We knew we were getting a political lecture, instead of a story.

What had happened is that Hans Solo had enraged progressives by excessive manliness in earlier movies (this was “controversial” at the time) and the next movie bent under the heat. As did all subsequent movies. Indiana Jones and last crusade was the last movie to have a manly hero interact with a woman as men interact with women and we were pissed by the disappearance of the male role from movies.

A whole lot of people sighed in disappointment. “Oh no, story tossed out the window, political lecture incoming.”

Before 1980s manly men in the movies interacted with love interests in a manly way. After Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, it never happened again. People missed it. Everyone missed it, but not everyone knew what they were missing. At roughly the same time, millions of romance novels on library shelves were pulped, to be replaced by different versions.

Yul Bornhold says:

> ,Ripley and Leah are neither “strong, indipendent wimmin”, nor even some kind of “action girls”

Yes they are, unless, your definition of “action girls” necessarily includes “moral scold.”

In the first Star Wars, Leia keeps her head when her ship is being boarded and sends the droids off with the plans in the heat of battle. She then calmly blasts a stormtrooper. After capture, she resists torture. During her rescue, she immediately grabs Luke’s weapon and starts firing. (Freud would love that.) It is Leia who leads her rescuers into the garbage chute with the line “somebody has to save our skins.” When the garbage compactor starts to close in, Leia takes the initiative and says “Don’t just stand there. Try to brace it with something!”

How is she not an insufferable action girlboss?

The first difference is that the film acknowledges she’s insufferable. Han remarks “Wonderful girl! Either I’m going to kill her, or I’m beginning to like her.” This is mating dance. Girl acts insufferable to see whether guy will put up with it. The Leia character becomes much more likeable in the following two Star Wars movies.

The second difference, as I posted earlier, is that even though Leia is a silly action girl, the movie doesn’t convey any bitter messaging that men are bad. Han and Luke are cool and competent guys. Heroes even. They’re not Tim Walz bumbling sidekicks, which is the best a white man can hope for in present diversity slop.

In Alien, Ripley is a space trucker (male coded job). She talks like a man and she acts like a man. There is nothing feminine about the character other than her body. More accurately, she acts uptight and always pissed off, so more like a woman larping a man. There is nothing about motherhood in the Alien film, though there’s a consistent theme of abortion; of parasitic life gestating within. (Alien 2, obviously, is a very different story.)

Yul Bornhold says:

I wass not a kid, and did see it as ramming politics down the throat of the audience, and so did quite a lot of people. Having slave Leia strangle Jabba the Hutt and rescue herself was controversial and offensive.

Maybe it was meant that way but it doesn’t seem the best interpretation. Leia infiltrates the palace and tries to rescue Han by thawing him out of that ice cube. She fails, is caught, placed into an outfit that flaunts her sexuality and gets chained to the bad guy’s throne. She’s reduced to a toy or an ornament. Sure at the end of the sequence she strangles Jabba and “rescues herself” but neither of those actions would have been possible if her friends weren’t slaughtering all Jabba’s henchmen. Insofar as she takes the initiative in that sequence, she fails. Her successful actions are the result of following someone else’s lead and, amusingly, she’s only successful after being reduced to a sex object.

Jim says:

There used to be hot debate as to when the rot in the Star Wars universe set in, though no one cares these days. The faction that thinks the rot set in when slave Leiah strangles Jabba the Hutt is not “everyone” but it was and is a fairly large faction.

The normal female reaction to danger in the presence of conflicting alpha males is to just stop. They react sexually to danger by going passive. You have to slap her and toss her over your shoulders. Or at least grab and drag. Everyone used to know this. It was a weird erasure of what everyone used to know. This is what makes women on the battlefield a useless liability.

This phenomenon is profoundly irritating to men, and real men do like action girls. And in real life, there are action girls. My late wife was action girl. But they are quite rare. And if your adversary succeeds in dominating her or you, action girl suddenly evaporates and you get the usual uselessness and inconvenient encumbrance. Princess Leiah acting princessy while doing action girl stuff was irritating, but not weird or unnatural. And if she was rather irritatingly girl bossy, she is a princess. So she is supposed to be bossy. And, more importantly, the mating dance always involves girls being irritating to their target when they get the hots. Irritating used to be part of the romantic arc. But slave Leiah turning back into action girl was weird, unnatural, and off putting.

Irritating action girl works if she winds up with the hero. Otherwise, just irritating.

The romantic arc is supposed to end with irritating girl ceasing to be irritating. Otherwise you have aborted the arc.

Jehu says:

Star wars definitely hit its apogee in Empire Strikes Back. That movie works on pretty much every level. It works as military science fiction, it works as a meditation on what motivates men, and it works as a romance. Everything after it is a lot worse.

Jim says:

Star wars was greatest up to the moment that Slave Leiah strangled Jabba the Hutt.

The correct Romantic arc for an action girl story is that she is irritating and obnoxious to the hero, possibly setting up potentially lethal alpha male conflicts that may well get him killed, but then he conquers her. When we saw slave Leiah strangle Jabba the Hutt, we knew we were getting Strong Whoman who don’t need no man, aborting all the romantic tension.

When I saw slave Leiah strangle the Hutt, I knew what was going to happen to Star Wars Universe. That it would eventually turn into the boring and obnoxious political lecture it has become I did not anticipate, due to normality bias.

Bouncer says:

Late Cold-War novels like Harold Coyle’s “Team Yankee” usually have the Soviets winning through sheer military might for most of the story, only for the plucky West to succeed at the very last minute through the power of being the “good guys” and the magical power of friendship. I guess they got the first part right at least.

Anonymous Fake says:

Cathedral approved narratives usually involve a much mightier opponent being absolutely humiliated by a few hundred coordinated activists blocking traffic in the capital city in a seemingly routine protest. The maximally efficient technocrats in control simply want to commute to their jobs as quickly as possible (and they are absolutely required to do these jobs in their holy buildings), so they negotiate with the activists, who provide the government with an innocuous petition of grievances. A lot less messy than using force.

The court system miraculously interprets the petition in the most Cathedral favorable way possible. The military men, terrified of disobeying orders, voluntarily concede defeat for no apparent reason no matter how close they are to winning. They want their kids to get into the highest ranking schools possible so they can get good jobs someday. This usually means a short stint in their national school before a transfer to Hahvahd or Yell. They return to their homeland as first class citizens, and the peasants who only went to the national schools look up to them as flawless prophets and philosophers.

The satellite states interpret the unexplained halt in the empire’s advance as a defeat, and one by one, like dominoes, seemingly spontaneously side with the “Rules Based International Order” and grow exponentially powerful, like a runaway game of Risk. The empire implodes into dozens of “independent nations” that all have identical policies created by the US State Department.

Great statues get built of the activists who didn’t do much more than block traffic. Statues of national heroes get torn down. They never meant much to immigrants anyway, who then rush into the former evil empire seeking freedom, and they are gladly welcomed as new fellow citizens by the natives, who gradually become happy dispossessed minorities and servants of the globalists. Good goyim.

All of this is the basic End of History narrative from the 1990’s and it’s hard-coded into anyone who ever went to college back then.

Pseudo-Chrysostom says:

>The maximally efficient technocrats in control simply want to commute to their jobs as quickly as possible (and they are absolutely required to do these jobs in their holy buildings), so they negotiate with the activists, who provide the government with an innocuous petition of grievances. A lot less messy than using force.

The ‘maximally efficient technocrat’s place the activists there to deliver the terms of surrender to their neighbors that they themselves wish to impose.

Jim says:

The number of destroyed armored vehicles in and around those villages vastly outnumbered the number of houses in those villages. A major part of Nato’s logistic capability was lost taking a handful of houses.

Eventually, after taking enormous losses, from which Ukraine’s army has never recovered, they reached Russia’s first line of defence, first of three. They kind of sort of got through it, and kind of sort of did not, but there was no significant penetration, because they were just out of troops and out of equipment. And it was obvious by 2023 July that something like this was the inevitable outcome of continuing the offense. So they should have stopped the offensive after the first week or two.

But the reason they tried the offensive in the first place was that they were trapped in a war of attrition, and were facing inevitable defeat if the war of attrition continued. They had to break out of attrition to war of maneuver, or surrender. But if they surrendered when they still have some bargaining chips on the table then the gravy train would stop. Vast numbers of elites in Washington and Kiev are getting rich out of this war, so their natural incentive is to continue till they run out of Ukrainians. Stop the gravy train, and realism will prevail. The reason why everyone is denying the reality is that denial is profitable.

Russia is winning, but they’re winning slowly and at rather great cost. And certain developments have me worried:

-Trump appointment several Russia hawks to key positions (Rubio, Gorka, Hegseth, Kellogg, etc). Tulsi is anti-war but all his other appointments are criticizing Biden for sending Ukraine too little too late.

-Trump is a great negotiator and Putin unfortunately isn’t. Worst case scenario is the war ends with a Russian military victory, perhaps 200k dead Russians and 1M dead Ukrainians, and then Trump outmaneuvers Putin at the negotiating table and we get stuck with a terrible deal.

-Deep state is going scorched earth in the months before Trump takes office. Attempted color revolution in Georgia, Al Qaida reactivated in Syria, long range missile strikes inside Russia proper. Only a matter of time before they send JASSMs too.

-I know the best course of action for Russia is to not respond to provocations and simply continue the war of attrition and slowly take land as the Ukrainian military collapses. But I can’t help but feel a sense of outrage that NATO can cross every Russian red line with impunity.

-Trump was largely unable to get the military and intelligence agencies under his control in his first term. I think he’s partially learned his lesson, but it’s still a tall order. Unclear if he’ll be able to succeed.

I say this all as someone who has relatives in Donbass and Crimea. I’m not blackpilling, Russia is capturing land at the fastest pace since the start of the war. But we’re not out of the woods yet. There’s still plenty that can go wrong.

Jim says:

Zelensky is an obviously illegitimate ruler who will do whatever the spy agencies tell him to do, which is unlikely to be what Trump and Tulsi Gabbard tell the spy agencies to tell Zelensky. The obvious solution is a brief truce in return for a free and fair election, Trump shoves a great big crowbar into efforts to rig the election, and then the new government gets to negotiate a peace settlement.

If the election is actually free and fair, a government committed to being a neutral buffer state is likely to be elected.

skippy says:

“If the election is actually free and fair, a government committed to being a neutral buffer state is likely to be elected.”

The problem is that Ukraine is even more of a “deep state” than Western countries. Electing a new government doesn’t necessarily matter when Banderites backed by secret police/intelligence operatives control every lever of power. The Russian war aim of “denazification and demilitarization” means more or less literal denazification, i.e. removal and banning from public life of most current Ukrainian officials. Which of course leaves little incentive for Ukraine to come to terms, as the original Nazis did not come to terms.

Jim says:

The Ukraine deep state is a direct extension of our deep state. At the end of World War II, the nazis in Soviet controlled Europe signed up with the CIA. It may well be that the only way to have a free and fair election in the Ukraine is for Tulsi Gabbard to get enough control of our spy agencies to stick a crowbar into their efforts to rig the election. Cut them adrift, throw them off the payroll, and suddenly they will be sending out feelers to the Russian spy agencies.

skippy says:

“Russia is winning, but they’re winning slowly and at rather great cost.”

Russia is winning slowly but cheaply, which is their policy and has been at least since Belousov replaced Shoigu. The US wants a quick resolution, not because they need one due to the cost of the Ukraine war, but so they can move on to other things. Russia has structured itself so that it can keep slowly winning at a cost of 5% of GDP and volunteers nobody of importance will miss for many many years.

Your Uncle Bob says:

Pepe Escobar spells out something the Western media doesn’t: the Russian hypersonic strike in Dnipropetrovsk demonstrates a game changer.

“…Oreshnik may reach Berlin in 11 minutes and London in 19 minutes. Also that launched from southern Russia, Oreshnik may reach the U.S. air base in Qatar in 13 minutes; launched from Kamchatka in the Far East, it may reach Guam in 22 minutes; and launched from Chukotka, it may reach Minuteman III silos in Montana in 23 minutes.”

I knew in a general way that carriers were on the way out, that hypersonics were the wave of the future, that Russia led in missiles generally and hypersonics specifically, that GAE missile defense was insufficient at best, and poised to fall further behind. But I didn’t know the day had already arrived until after the fact. Western media and leaders aren’t saying, maybe can’t even conceive it, and Russian leadership is evidently trying to be lowkey about it while The Biden tries to bait them into WWIII, but GAE just got far, far weaker than they were a few weeks before.

Bad news for us, bad news for Ukrainians and Europeans, good news for you. Ukraine/US intel going rogue and continuing the war on their own initiative (they’ve gotten away with it before, as in Cambodia) is the only thing on your list I’d worry about, the rest is blackpilling.

Nikolai says:

Pepe Escobar is a leftist third worldist and has a habit of exaggerating or outright fabricating victories of any U.S. adversaries. The pro Russia information space is full of commies who hate the West because it’s rich and white. Whereas we hate the GAE because its primary exports are sodomy and feminism, with a dash of negrolatry.

Oreshnik doesn’t really change anything. The west has weapons that can wipe out Russia in half an hour and Russia has weapons that can wipe out the West in half an hour. This has been the status quo for the better part of a century and it hasn’t changed since last week.

It is a frightening escalation and the first time MIRVs have been used in actual battle. But it’s certainly not a game changer in any meaningful strategic sense.

Jim says:

I don’t think this war will escalate to the point where the US will risk nuclear armageddon over which flag flies over Slavyansk, but I suppose anything is possible. The main point is I doubt hazelnut will have any effect on NATO’s strategic calculus.

Jim says:

I said nuclear technology, not rocket technology. Rocket technology has been stagnant in modest and gradual decline from when Wernher von Braun retired till Musk got started. Nuclear has been precipitous decline. I expect the nukes to reach Russia and fizzle.

“The main point is I doubt the hazelnut missile will have any effect on NATO’s strategic calculus.”

What do you make of its demonstration in Ukraine, then? Plenty of takes for sure, but which ones come to your mind first?

I can prime the pump a little, and then please add your own:

1: Putin making sure his missile people aren’t just bullshitting him.
“Oh yeah? This new missile is awesome? Well show me IRL then.”

2: Vox Day’s recent take is that it’s Putin saying “See? We can blow up the MI6 building proper. When it’s us, you’ll know it’s really us. When it’s fresh Russian passports all over the sidewalk after someone dirty bombs a Tesco, you’ll know it’s MI6 false-flagging your dumb asses.”

3: A warning to NATO shenanigan centers in Ukraine, Poland and Romania. “We can ice you fuckers in your sleep whenever we want.”

skippy says:

Even if you grant the weapons work neither Russia nor the US has had “wipe out” ability since the end of the Cold War. Each side can deliver 500-1000 bombs over long range. That would cause a big mess, but would not be genocidal on either end.

Then, I guess, China mops up the remnants. Neither side wants this, and not for soppy humanitarian reasons.

I’ve been saying this for a while: the kindest thing we can do for women is exclude them from positions of formal power and prestige, and give those positions to men instead.

Roko has been coming to our side pretty hard for a while.

This war really began with Soros’s “Orange Revolution” in 2014. I would like to see this end with both him and Zelensky put on trial in Russia for war crimes, and executed on worldwide live TV.

As far as the scope of the tragedy, the only comparable case I know about is Paraguay in the 19th century, which managed to pick a fight with three of its much larger neighbors at the same time, and lost 90% of its male population.

I can’t understand how even woketards manage to believe they are fighting for democracy when neither Biden nor Zelensky ever won an honest election, and Zelensky cancelled one and outlawed all opposition parties. That is not a country America should be supporting, and Soros’ bunch should not be leading any country.

white bread says:

Paraguay didn’t pick a fight. Paraguay was designated as a target for destruction by the foreign office. The foreign office instructed its vassal states argentina and brazil to destroy paraguay.

The war of the triple alliance started in 1864. The US was in a civil war, the French were in Mexico and the British could care less about a land locked country.

white bread says:

The whole of south america was under english control. The thing was called the british empire. Just like, for instance, all wars in the middle east today are caused by the so called GAE, wars in south america were decided at the foreign office.

white bread says:

So the U.S. is bombing Russia, the CIA carried out a coup in South Korea and is trying again to overthrow Assad. All of this happened in the last few days. The U.S. mafia is acting with almost total impunity. I guess that’s not exactly news, but the scope of operations/crimes seems to be a lot bigger than usual.

Maybe the way the Russians are defending themselves is too conservative and restrained, and is sending the wrong message to U.S. savages? Russia is under attack by the U.S. but Russia isn’t targetting the U.S. or even their european lapdogs.
