What is a “pastoral” Pope?

Drone carried infrared cameras are likely to be useful, but the most effective solution is synthetic aperture radar, which requires huge bandwidth and huge processing power. But that processing does not have to be done in one hit. If the drone already knows what the landscape should look like to synthetic aperture radar and is just looking for what has changed, this can reduce the cost to something quite reasonable.
At present you are continually getting lots of two dimensional images from drones. These need to be built into a three dimensional landscape so that you can predict what the drone should see, and notice any change.
If both sides can kill anything they see, the winner needs to see more stuff faster. This is a data collection, data processing, and data analysis problem. The side that can best see the battlefield will win.
Drones need to fly out knowing what the battlefield should look like, act on what they see, and if they survive to return, bring back information on what the battlefield looks like.
Expanding on the “see” in kill anything they see… the seeing can come from satellites in LEO which will soon (maybe now) have real-time SAR that sees through clouds.

It appears India and Pakistan have agreed on a ceasefire. Things were spiraling into full fledged war, so it appears somebody did some back room talks with both India and Pakistan (appears to be Trump but not sure)

A reluctant India is increasingly being pushed to recognise this as a holy war. Especially because the current Pakistan army chief is a jihadist.

My assessment of the situation is that there is still a 10% chance of nuke war, in the forseeable future, unless some things change very rapidly.
@SomeDude thinks this is a nothing burger like previous skirmishes between India and Pakistan. The difference this time is that, there has been much more holiness spiralling within Pakistan than in 2019 (the last significant conflict). Also the US has withdrawn from Afghanistan which means CIA is not interested as much in Pakistan as a tactical resource and further the emergence of Trump has weakened the globohomo interest in the sub-continent significantly. This means, CIA no longer seems in control of the levers of the Pakistani military. GAE can no longer play an effective peacemaker since Trump has clearly shown that America doesn’t want to be involved in faraway wars. Further the presence of a Jihadist Military Chief in Pakistan also indicates that it will be much harder for a lasting peace agreement between the two countries.
Currently it seems Trump and to a more significant extent the Chinese have prevailed upon the top Pakistan military command to stop the escalations. Apart from the initial missile strikes at terrorist infrastructure as revenge for the targetted Pahalgam attack on unarmed Hindu civilian tourists, India hasn’t been much interested in continuing the present conflict. There is an uneasy peace at the moment but only at the moment. We are unsure whether Pakistan has enough self-control to keep hands off the trigger in the coming days.
