1908–1914
In 1908, Austria annexed Bosnia and Herzegovina, which was hugely provocative against the Slavs (Russia) and especially against the South Slavs (Serbia) They annexed it from the declining Ottoman Empire, but Serbia felt that they should be the ones to annex it from the Ottomans, and, more importantly Russia felt that Serbia should be ones to annex it, that Bosnia and Herzegovina were slavic, and should have been annexed by slavs.
Austria got away with this because Austria and Germany danced towards a world war, and a world war being then as now unthinkable, Russia and Serbia backed down. But they seethed, and continued to seeth.
In 1914 June 28th, Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria-Hungary toured Sarajevo, capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Touring it was a little bit provocative, and touring it on June 28th was extremely provocative, for June 28 was St. Vitus’ Day** (Vidovdan) in the Serbian Orthodox calendar. This date commemorates the Battle of Kosovo Polje in 1389. In this battle, Serbian Prince Lazar was defeated by the Ottoman Empire. The battle became a central myth of Serbian national identity, symbolizing sacrifice, martyrdom, and resistance against foreign rule. For Serbian nationalists, June 28 was a day of profound national mourning and pride. It was a deeply symbolic date representing the struggle for Serbian sovereignty.
Serbia assassinated Archduke Franz Ferdinand using a proxy force. While piously disowning responsibility, they publicly celebrated the assassination as a “Kosovo revenge”. This cemented the date’s legacy as a symbol of resistance against Austria-Hungary, making it perfectly obvious to everyone whose proxy it was, not that everyone did not already know. What the world then did not know was that Russia also had a hand in the assassination.
Austria rationally feared that if they let this assassination slide, further and even more drastic provocations would follow, with the aim of regaining Bosnia and Herzegovina for Serbia (after five centuries) Austria therefore issued an ultimatum demanding that Austrian police be allowed into Serbia to investigate the assassination, which everyone knew would reveal it to be a Serbian assassination, and did not know would reveal it to be a combined Russian and Serbian assassination.
Austria and Germany had gotten what they wanted by dancing towards World War in 1908, and now Russia and Serbia were dancing towards war expecting to get what they wanted if they kept on dancing, but expecting no World War to ensue, because World War was then, as now, unthinkable.
Germany backed the Austrian ultimatum.
In response to the ultimatum, and in response to Germany backing the ultimatum, Russia mobilised, which was hugely provocative against not only Austria, but also Germany. At this point, still no one, least of all Russia, expected World War I. But everyone was dancing towards World War, in the expectation that the other side would back down. After all, Russia and Serbia backed down last time. The West expected them to back down again. Russia and Serbia expected Austria to back down, and Bosnia and Herzegovina would continue to stew with conflict short of outright war, with low level deniable warfare, until eventually the declining Austrian empire would eventually decide that empire was just too much grief. The slavs had waited five centuries. They expected to wait many more decades of slowly increasing pressure on Austria. The Ottoman empire had declined, the Austrian empire was declining. They perceived themselves as patient. Time was on their side. Austria and Germany perceived them as impatient. The assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria-Hungary was far too much, and they knew that Serbia and Russia intended that worse was to come in coming years and coming decades.
Everyone continued to dance towards World War, in the expectation that it could never happen, and the other side would just have to back down. Because World War was just unthinkable. Dancing in the direction of World War was perfectly safe, because it just could not possibly happen. No one wanted World War. No one expected World War. Such a terrible and costly outcome was unthinkable, so dancing towards it was merely cost free dick swinging. Hey, my dick is bigger than your dick, because I can dance closer to the precipice than you dare to dance.
And then they looked down, and found that they had already danced over the precipice.
2014–present
Globohomo never wanted high level war with Russia. They always wanted to slow cook the frog with never ending low level not-quite-war.
But Russia is unwilling to accept low level not-quite-war, which they perceive as an effort by Globohomo to impose on Russia a government that hates Russians even more than the British government hates Britons, by many steps, each step short of World War three.
The west had broken the deal that led to the dissolution of the Soviet Empire. The west has long felt that Russia is an artificial entity, that the Russian language, the Russian identity, and the Russian religion is an artificial imposition upon the diverse peoples of the Russian empire, that this should be reversed, and that the dissolution of the Soviet Empire was merely the first step of many steps towards reversing it.
Globohomo intended many more steps, and Russia and Russians have been getting paranoid and hostile about this.
The Russian identity originally was an artificial imposition, but the Russian empire has successfully combined great brutality against rebels with great generosity towards defeated rebels, and today, it is the identity that Russians received through their mother’s arms. Russia and Russians fear and resent this western attitude. This is a long standing centuries old issue, just as Bosnia and Herzegovina was a long standing centuries old issue. And Nato advance eastwards forcefully reminded Russia and Russians of this long standing issue.
The Globohomo Empire hates the British identity, the American identity, the Australian identity, the French identity, and seeks to destroy all of them, but it hates the Russian identity more than any of them and has hated that identity for longer than it has hated any other. The British left was complaining about the Russian identity centuries before it was complaining about the British identity.
Just as American leftists hate white Americans for being American, they hate Russians even more for being Russian.
In 2014, the Party of the Regions was governing Ukraine, as a result of it repeatedly winning elections, including elections organised by its enemies. This was a Putin like party. It supported the Russian language in Ukraine, the Russian Orthodox Religion, and ties with Russia. It felt that following the fall of the Soviet Union, the Ukraine and Russia had been looted by European and American carry-on baggers, resulting in a massive drop in fertility, a massive reduction of life expectancy, and a massive rise of alcoholism, drug addiction, and death by despair. It also pursued joining the European Union, but when the EU told them they would have to cut economic ties with Russia, which would have massively disrupted Ukrainian industry, they told the EU to go pound sand.
And when they told the EU to go pound sand, European and American ngos launched the Maidan coup against the government.
Supposedly this was not a coup but “The Revolution of Dignity”, but Maidan consisted of murder and terror by supposedly non state actors (analogous to BLM and Antifa, proxies of the Democratic Party and blue state governments, in America) against the Party of the Regions, and in 2015 state proxy terror was replaced by direct state enforcement. The Party of the Regions of criminalised, and speech on the issues on which the Party of the Regions had won elections was criminalised. And though these speech crimes were repressed by the police and judiciary, the repression was almost as lawless, violent, cruel, and arbitrary as when the repression had been carried out by proxies.
When you criminalise political opposition, it is a coup. When you declare peaceful supporters of the former government criminals, it is a coup. When you criminalise the party and the political movement that you overthrew, it is a coup. When you criminalise the words and thoughts of the movement you overthrew, it is coup.
When you criminalise the plurality language of your country, and you criminalise the majority religion of your country, it is not just a coup, it is a extraordinary tyranny and brutal despotism.
This foreshadowed the silencing of speech, the banning of parties, and the cancellation of elections that we are now seeing in Europe. The measures taken by the Maidan government were swiftly followed by similar measures in Europe. Maidan in 2014 foreshadowed BLM and Transtifa in the US, and Maidan in 2015 foreshadowed what we are seeing go down in Europe.
Russia was outraged by this, and Russian speakers in the Ukraine and people of the Russian Orthodox faith in the Ukraine were outraged by this. Russia was also threatened by this, because there were efforts to coup Putin and his party the way the Party of the Regions had been couped. And Russians were threatened by this because the Maidan regime proceeded to put the screws on Russian speakers and the Russian Orthodox Church, thus intent to coup Putin implied intent to put the screws on the Russian identity.
Russia annexed Crimea, which had successfully revolted against the coup regime, and had clear and defensible borders, but refrained from annexing other parts of revolting Ukraine, where the conflict had less clear and less defensible borders, and the outcome was unsettled. It wanted to avoid direct military conflict.
Putin took vigorous measures to protect against coup in Russia, which violated freedom of speech and freedom of association, but nothing as drastic as banning the major opposition party, and today there are vastly more political prisoners in Britain than in Russia.
Democracy is the end of Republics. In every election, the stakes on the table get higher, until orderly transfer of power becomes difficult and dangerous. Freedom of speech and freedom of political organisation cannot be tolerated when some people are organising to get rid of other people. We dare not let our enemies speak, and we have to get rid of them, because if they take power they will not let us speak, and will get rid of us.
2018: Maneuver preparatory to holy war
The Ukrainian and European governments got the Constantinople patriarchate to grant autocephaly the Ukrainian Church. Most Ukrainian Christians failed to go along with this. The UOC-MC in Ukraine continued to adhere to the Moscow patriarchate. The Russian and Georgian Orthodox Churches rejected this move
This is an issue that has been simmering since the Ottomans conquered Constantinople in 1453 and renamed it Istanbul. The Constantinople patriarchate came under the thumb of Islam, and Orthodox Churches in Christian lands emphasised the autocephaly of each national Orthodox Church, and emphasised that decisions on orthodoxy as a whole must be made collegially, not unilaterally by the patriarchate of Constantinople.
This dispute has been running for five centuries (just as the Bosnia and Herzegovina dispute that led to World War I had been simmering for five centuries) but got a lot hotter when Turkey converged the Constantinople patriarchate to globohomo postChristianity.
The Russian Orthodox church, the UOC-MC in Ukraine, and a number of other Orthodox Churches broke communion with Constantinople in 2018, in response to Constantinople unilaterally issuing autocephaly to Ukraine, splitting orthodoxy, though after the invasion a number of other orthodox churches submitted to Constantinople, and globohomo.
Simultaneously the globohomo convergence dispute has been splitting Anglicanism, with GAFCON supporting autocephaly for national Anglican Churches, and a headquarters for the Anglican communion in Jerusalem instead of Canterbury. Although the immediate trigger for the break of communion in Orthodoxy was Constantinople issuing autocephaly to Ukraine, the Russian patriarchate has been vigorously complaining about convergence to globohomo, so GAFCON is aligning with Russian orthodoxy, while Canterbury is aligning with Istanbul.
Gafcon was formed in 2008, but things heated up considerably in 2025 when the Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby resigned and was replaced by a archbishopette, Dame Sarah Mullally, who supports same sex unions and all that.
War
In 2021, Russian speaking civilians in Donbas were being shelled by artillery in Avdeevka, American supplied artillery, American shells, guided by American overwatch from space, the artillery located a short distance from a not-a-Nato base in Avdeevka full of Americans. Ukrainian proxies pulling the trigger. Russia and Russians found this alarming. Americans shelling Russians was not-quite-war the way the Americans saw it. It was war the way the Russians saw it. Russia issued an ultimatum, the point of the ultimatum not being to protect people in the Donbas, but people in Russia.
In 2021 December Russia had issued a peace treaty proposal: Ukraine and Georgia to not join NATO, and no NATO nuclear weapons, long-range missiles, or troop deployments) near Russia’s borders. This demand was purely about Russian borders. Russian identity in the Ukraine could be eliminated, so long as Russians in Russia were safe.
In 2022 January this veiled military ultimatum became a naked military ultimatum. If Nato did not agree to Russia’s security, to the security of Russians in Russia, Russia would do something about the security of Russians in the Ukraine.
In 2022 February 21 Putin demanded the neutrality and denazification of the Ukraine. Three days later, hours before the invasion, the Russian government endorsed and echoed the Russian Orthodox patriarchate on the split in Orthodoxy, making this a holy war between old type Christianity, endorsed by the Russian patriarchate and Gafcon, and globohomo postChristianity.
Historically, holy wars tend to start small, and slowly grow, burning hotter and killing more and more people, going on and on and on. National wars tend to start abruptly and finish abruptly, but holy wars are harder to end, because there is no sovereign with authority to end them. One thing leads to another thing, and more and more nations and sovereigns get pulled in, even long after the entities that actually started the fighting are completely obliterated, or so thoroughly ruined as to become irrelevant.
Because Nato would not grant security to Russia, Putin was massively upping the ante. Which parallels the Tsar upping the ante on the dispute over Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Russian Foreign Ministry Press Release, 2022 February 24: “Ukraine’s actions against the UOC-MP are a direct attack on the spiritual heritage of the Russian people.”
On 2022 March 1, a week after the invasion begun, the Russian Duma (parliament) issued a unanimous resolution, State Duma Resolution No. 1032410-7, “The State Duma calls for international protection of the UOC-MP in Ukraine, condemning the Ukrainian authorities’ actions as a violation of religious freedom and an attack on Russian spiritual heritage.”
The demand for denazification seemed absurd to the west. Was not the ideology that Ukraine was imposing on Ukrainians by terror and murder “Civic Nationalism”, Globohomo homogenisation, which is, the West thinks, the complete opposite of Nazism. Jews regard globohomo as antinazism, protection against the holocaust happening every again, because globohomo is going to abolish every separate identity. Which looks very nazi to those identities are being abolished, and looks very nazi to nazis in the Ukraine.
Abolishing identity looks mighty like nazism if it is your own identity being abolished, and in actual practice, actual nazis, men who had been part of Hitler’s apparatus, were the elders of Maidan movement. It was the most Jewish government outside of Israel, and the most Nazi government since the Third Reich.
The Azov idea of Ukrainian identity is presumably very different from that of the Jews, but they fully agreed with the Jews in abolishing slavic identity. When Hitler ruled the Ukraine, the Nazi party in the Ukraine set about de-slavifying the Ukraine. It continued in existence, funded by the CIA, underground in the Ukraine and with external headquarters in Canada during Soviet rule, and after the Soviet Union fell, popped up again to resume de-slavifying the Ukraine. Hence Putin’s demand for de-nazification and the West’s incomprehension of this demand. For white Americans and white Britons, globohomo is slow genocide and race replacement, which looks mighty like nazism, but for Jews, getting rid of whites is obviously the opposite of Nazism, and when it comes to getting rid of slavs, Jews and Nazis are in agreement and always have been.
The Jewish element of the Maidan government was globohomogenising, but the Nazi element was de-slavifying. And while the Ukraine is not exactly Russian (the name means “borderlands”) it is definitely overwhelmingly slavic. The Ukrainian language is being rapidly and continually invented with new words, new names, and new spelling to make it less slavic.
Russia attempted war of movement in the Ukraine, and failed, with terrible casualties. It found itself stuck in war of attrition, so settled down to fight a war of attrition. And, by late 2022 early 2023, it became obvious that it was winning the war of attrition.
So the Ukraine attempted to break out of war attrition into war of movement, with the 2023 “Greatest Ukrainian Counter Offensive”. Which failed catastrophically with terrible casualties. And, Ukraine’s forces considerably diminished, it continued to lose the war of attrition in an ever more one sided manner, Ukraine’s casualties becoming ever greater and Russian casualties ever fewer as Ukrainian forces became ever fewer and Russian forces ever greater.
On 2024 June 14th, once it had become obvious that Russia was winning the war of attrition, Russia upped the ante a little further. Russia demanded that the territories that have voted to become part of Russia are now permanently part of the Russian Federation, and the West must recognise them as legal republics of Russia, and the war will continue until they do, Russian orthodoxy and the Russian language is allowed in the Ukraine, and the Ukraine becomes neutral and non aligned
Britain has banned prayer on certain topics, including silent prayer in one’s own home, and is attempting, not very successfully, to enforce this, calling on family members to rat out family members who engage in unlawful prayer, though the only arrest for silent individual prayer of which I am aware was a women silently praying near an abortion facility. Russia has declared holy war, and Europe is conducting holy war. Russia raised the stakes, and Britain re-raised the stakes.
A great war ensues when both sides keep raising the stakes expecting the other side to fold.
So, what happens when the last Ukrainian soldier is dead or maimed, and the West still declines to accept the outcome?
Every Century, The Russians beat very Formidable military forces and destroy that entity as a great military power for all time to come. That particular entity then never even comes close to recovering former military greatness. If Afghanistan is the graveyard of empires, Russia is the graveyard of military capability
1500s: Mongols
1600s: Poland-Lithuania
1700: Swedes
1800s: Napoleonic France
1900s: Nazi Germany
2000s: Globohomo
Mongols did conquer Russia though
For a while. But Russians made it expensive, and in time eventually made it considerably more expensive.
It pains me to see this fracture in Orthodoxy and Russian youth slaughtering (more or less) Russian seniors across a not-so-real border.
I continue to lose hope on a resolution here. Maybe globohomo is so full of itself collectively that they won’t really accept that Russia is truly winning until Russia has already won. Too late for them to effectively escalate. Unlikely though.
Trump could have made a difference here, but Trump *could* have been a lot of things that he isn’t.
